Item #: SCP-4279
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4279
Description: SCP-4279 is an operating room in [blah] Hospital that causes metamorphosis of the organs of patients operated on within it.
Organs affected by SCP-4279 (SCP-4279-A instances) are not necessarily the ones operated on; SCP-4279 appears to disproportionately target spleens and hearts.
Over the course of several months, SCP-4279-A instances gradually grow a thick coating of calcium carbonate and protein, and contract into a more rounded shape. After approximately one month, the coating is too thick to be penetrated by ordinary medical imaging. Organs retain full functionality despite their internal structures breaking down. Subjects often exhibit mild osteoporosis as SCP-4279-A instances leach calcium from the bones.
At this point, SCP-4279-A instances detach all connections to the rest of the body, and simply rest freely, moving on their own occasionally.
