Item #: SCP-4887

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:

Description: SCP-4887 are spherical structures of extraterrestrial origin, buried in various locations worldwide.

SCP-4887 instances are approximately 40 m in radius, and are divided into nine floors. The top four floors contain living quarters and broken machines that appear intended to regulate internal atmosphere composition and pressure. The fifth through eighth floors are laboratories of various specializations, with especially advanced biotechnology. No inhabitants appear in these.

The ninth floor of every SCP-4887 instance to date contains multiple containment cells made primarily of an organic, translucent crystalline material. All cells found have been completely destroyed upon recovery. Feeding structures and remaining functional equipment suggest the entities previously contained within were small, social, and hostile.

Each SCP-4887 instance recovered has several breaches in the hull, presumably caused by the captive entities.

Addendum: On [date], exploration of a newly discovered SCP-4887 instance revealed a single, still-living occupant, designated SCP-4887-A, which had sealed itself within a vacuum chamber and entered a state of suspended animation.

SCP-4887-A is a nonapedal, cephalopod-like organism with crystalline skin. Three large, jointed limbs support and carry the body, while the remaining six smaller, tentacular limbs are used for interaction. The main body has three round, gelatinous red structures, determined to be sensory organs. There is also a central "brain" analog, with extensions of it threaded through the limbs, as well as 15-20 small "mini-brain" structures along the threads. Three of SCP-4887-A's secondary limbs were severely damaged, and appear to have been chewed.

SCP-4887-A's skin exhibits a minor optical anomaly, absorbing infrared-visible light in its vicinity and rereleasing it as ultraviolet, in complex patterns on its skin. Analysis of its body composition is ongoing, though it is mostly carbon-based.

A chamber was setup and the atmosphere and pressure equalized to the approximate settings of the SCP-4887 instance, and SCP-4887-A was placed in this chamber until it regained consciousness.

now here's where we learn about the alien's Days of Future Past
