The Important Stuff!
Pitch
The market for breakfast cereals for children has been dominated by very sugary and unhealthy products for quite some time. This leads to obesity, diabetes, and other health issues for children as they mature into adults. But what if I told you we could offer a powerful dietary supplement, with a taste to rival the traditional breakfast cereals, all while promoting the benefits of a healthy lifestyle? Using the power of lactomancy, neurogastronomy, and the latest technologies, the Sweets & Consumables Department has created a Wondertastic product to sweep the competition.
Check out the attached concept art for the box, courtesy of myself.
Details
The cereal is are made of rice puffs, specially made from Wonder World™-grown rice. This rice is very high in nutrients, a quality that is only amplified during the enrichment and baking process. Our neurogastronomy experts have devised a way to fit Omega-3, Vitam-B, Vitamin-C, and various other important nutrients while eliminating the fishy, meaty, and citrusy taste associated with them respectively. This is due to the marshmallow and chocolate flavors of the cereal being not only implemented traditionally but also via a mild cognition-affecting pattern on the box. In other words, it tastes exactly as it looks!
And while on the topic of marshmallows, they sing and dance! Only after being activated by milk, of course. We have recorded a few songs for them to sing in cooperation with the Department of Mistereering. All of the songs are about a minute long, and each promotes different aspects of healthy living such as proper diet, exercise, and oral health. And what better way to cross-promote than to shape them in the form of the Little Misters?
Applications
As previously mentioned, we want to help the children of the world become more health-conscious and fit. We can reach this goal by not only ensuring that the product is indeed healthy, but by making it affordable to low-income families around the globe and donating a certain percentage of the profits made from each box sold to No Child Hungry or other similar charities. We are considering applying to become a partner of the United States' Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, though we are unsure how the Unusual Incidents Unit will respond to that.
If the product fails for whatever reason, we can always write them off as a tax donation by donating our stores to the Manna Charitable Foundation. So no matter the outcome, the children of the world win.
Risks!
This being the Sweets & Consumables Department's first major project, I understand that the risk may seem high, especially for a team leader as new as myself. However, we have tested the product thoroughly and ensured it is of topmost quality.
We blind tested the product against 5 other popular, leading breakfast cereals (with inert marshmallows as opposed to singing ones, to keep things fair!) with 1000 children ages 4-10, and in 87% of instances, the tester preferred our product over the competitor's. Of the remaining 13%, 10% said they liked our product second, third, or fourth as much, and in only 3%, they liked it the least.
This product is mostly planned for the American market, where cereal is a popular breakfast staple. We are looking into applications of the product in the form of an energy bar for foreign markets such as Europe and Africa. Current predictions expect the amount of produced whimsy of these alternative forms to be lower than that of its cereal-based counterpart, especially considering the lack of singing and dancing marshmallows, but as previously mentioned, we are looking into solving this potential branding issue.
Of course, there is also always the problem of the Es See Pea stopping our product from coming to market, but they are also our biggest customers, so I am confident that this will do well regardless.
Project Status
NOTICE: EXECUTIVE USE ONLY
Dearest Judy,
I have long been anticipating your first project for the fledgling Sweets & Consumables Department, and this does not disappoint. This perfectly matches our new direction, and it is with great excitement that I approve of the release of this product.
Just make sure you get someone from our Arts and Crafts Department to update the box design for you, haha.
Yours,
- Holly W. Light
