Access tunnel for SCP-XXXX.
Selective Containment Provisions: SCP-XXXX, by its very nature, cannot be breached by unauthorized persons, and is thus considered to be self-contained. However, some of its contents are subject to additional containment procedures beyond their storage within SCP-XXXX.
Location of SCP-XXXX manifestation.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a subterranean facility, accessible through a tunnel in the side of a mountain located in the Wadi Rum in Jordan. SCP-XXXX cannot be encountered or detected by any means unless the passage is traversed as designed. The passage ends in a reinforced steel door with a plaque reading:
SCP Foundation
Department Of Abnormalities
Facility OSIRIS1
Without exception, only Foundation personnel that possessed Level 4/General clearance at the time of the discovery of the passage (on 4/21/1978) are able to proceed past the door.
Passing the door allows ingress to the antechamber of SCP-XXXX. This chamber takes the form of a series of concentric rings, of which the outermost is opened into from the passage door.2 Following the outermost ring along its edge provides access to the ring immediately inside of it, and so on. Each of these chambers consists of a series of elevators, which descend to provide access to various "wings" of the facility and are labeled with plaques naming their destinations.
The various wings of SCP-XXXX serve as a highly complex series of containment chambers for an as yet unknown number of anomalous entities, artifacts, and even locations. These wings may vary substantially in overall form, but retain a general aesthetic highly consistent with certain planned future Foundation containment and research sites. Individual containment cells tend to be steel cubical structures sealed in bare concrete, arranged within extremely large circular tunnels that are visually similar to the initial access tunnel. The majority of cells are equipped with audiovisual monitoring for their contents, a plaque denoting some information about their contents, biometric analysis systems that can provide or deny access to their contents, or all or some of these features. No consistent pattern has yet been discovered regarding which personnel may access any given anomaly or group of anomalies.
Overall, SCP-XXXX is extremely large, and has been observed to extend itself over time both ectoentropically and extradimensionally, potentially with no limit upon its maximum size. Additionally, all forms of damage to the internal contents and structure of SCP-XXXX by any external force or entity is later found to have been reversed, or simply cannot occur.
Addendum XXXX-1: Discovery And Theory Of Operation
Theoretical model of the higher-dimensional surface of SCP-XXXX (interior view).
SCP-XXXX was discovered following a global alert from reality integrity monitors employed by the Foundation, Global Occult Coalition, Pentagram, Prometheus Labs, and other paratechnological organizations. Simultaneously, all monitors worldwide reported an impending reality displacement of a magnitude several hundred thousand times greater than any known Class XII or higher (Olympia class) ontokinetic entity was capable of producing. Given the lack of any precedent for such an event, no attempt was made to contain the displacement, and the O5 Council unanimously declared the onset of a CK Class Reality Restructuring Scenario.3
However, there was no evidence of the expected large-scale reality changes immediately preceding, during, or after the event. Instead, the area of effect of the displacement exponentially decreased until it localized at its present location as a spatial formation resembling a (then only theoretical) Hume singularity, a region of altered reality that, to "outside" observers, is totally or nearly totally ontologically fixed,4 and cannot be directly measured whatsoever. Investigation revealed that it is possible to access SCP-XXXX, indicating that it is not a true Hume singularity, but it resists external analysis in much the same way.
Unlike many esoteric spacetime structures, the higher-dimensional topology of SCP-XXXX as viewed from its exterior (a relatively tiny zone of nigh-infinitely distorted reality) is dramatically different from its topology as viewed from its interior. Internal experimentation suggests that SCP-XXXX is a multidimensional shell-like structure of ordered reality5 enclosing a variable density spacetime manifold of incalculable size. Within such a region, physical laws may be manipulated without limit; however, the parts of the facility explored thus far contain no clear information on how to do so, nor any regarding how SCP-XXXX was formed in the first place.
Furthermore, analysis of SCP-XXXX's topology is impeded by the fact that its ordered reality shell is virtually entirely smooth (99.9979% flawless at last estimate). Due to this, no reality alteration equipment or technology other than that which is used by SCP-XXXX to contain its own reality-altering contents can operate within.6
Addendum XXXX-2: Anomalies Contained Within SCP-XXXX (Abridged)
The following is an abridged list of anomalies contained within several of the wings accessible from the outermost antechamber section. They may be taken as a representative sample of anomalies contained within the facility as a whole.
| Inactive-Stable Wing | ||
|---|---|---|
| Anomaly | Containment Provisions | Notes |
| A large ellipsoidal object constructed from steel, emblazoned with the Foundation seal. | This chamber is inaccessible. | "Even if another one of these thing hatches, it's not going to escape." |
| An apparently inert abstract sculpture entitled "The Damned World." | The chamber is freely accessible. | "The heart of OSIRIS." |
| A chipped and weathered shaft of an unidentified metal, resting in a shallow pool of water. | This chamber is not accessible. | "Stylus of the clockwork goddess. With it were the blueprints of OSIRIS composed." |
| Cryptid Wing | ||
| Anomaly | Containment Provisions | Notes |
| Several kilograms of corroded concrete flecked with traces of blood and fecal matter. Genetic analysis inconclusive. | This chamber is accessible to only three persons at any given time. | "some shitty moden [sic] art lol" |
| A mausoleum, containing several thousand preserved corpses, each labeled with a name in several languages. | The mausoleum is freely accessible, but none of the caskets have been found to open, preventing autopsy. | "Last fae generation." |
| Phantasmagor Wing | ||
| Anomaly | Containment Provisions | Notes |
| An indistinct, smoke-like shape ceaselessly wandering its cell. | This chamber is not accessible, and video surveillance reveals that it is equipped with floodlights on every surface, apparently to prevent the formation of shadows. | "Cursed to hunger forevermore." |
| Locality Wing | ||
| Anomaly | Containment Provisions | Notes |
| An elaborate indoor biosphere consistent with the jungles of South America. | While the environment is freely accessible, there are various underground tunnels which have been filled in and cannot be excavated. | "It is no longer the place of the gods to determine what shall and shall not be imprisoned." |
| An empty, apparently unremarkable cave. | This chamber has no access restrictions. | "This would be a little too convenient for our purposes, and so, obviously, it won't work. In any case, we've repaid it in kind." |
| Homo Esoterica Wing | ||
| Anomaly | Containment Provisions | Notes |
| Unknown. | This chamber lacks surveillance and is inaccessible due to a time seal.7 | "All things must pass, even Nod Al Cain, the First To Murder." |
| Unknown. The only notable feature of the chamber is a featureless black cube. | This chamber is freely accessible. | "Found all 21!" |
| An ornate ring resting upon a pillow on a chair. | The chamber is inaccessible. | "Jacqueline, last of the Brights." Inscribed below, apparently at a later time, is: "Still kicking. Better give this one another thousand years." |
| A skeleton that is primarily human, but possess an equine skull, scaled down and structurally abnormal in a way that is compatible with the musculature and vertebrae of a human neck. | This chamber is freely accessible. | "U.B.D." |
| Six partial humanoid robotic bodies. | This chamber is freely accessible. | A phrase in an unknown language related to Sanskrit, reading: "Here the turning ends." |
| A corpse genetically identical to Dr. Alto Clef. Within the room, no sound is audible, even if its source is outside. | This room is not accessible. | "A man of music. Long did he sing, but now here his song lies." |
| Ideatic-Documentary Wing | ||
| Anomaly | Containment Provisions | Notes |
| A rusted and decaying toaster, sitting upon a steel table. | This chamber lacks even a door. | The plaque contains a QR code that, when scanned, provides access to a wireless network that contains thousands of text and audio files denigrating and insulting the toaster, each of which begins with the words "fuck you, I am not a toaster." |
| A folder labeled "Dammerung: An Account," containing one or more papers, resting on a podium. | This chamber is not accessible. | "Please don't look. Don't even try. Even we wouldn't inflict torture like this." |
| This containment chamber has no apparent restrictions for access nor containment. | A spatial anomaly that leads to what is apparently a replica of a defunct office building and its immediate surroundings. Moving too far from the building causes egress from the chamber. | See what I did there? |
| Unknown. | The anomaly's containment chamber is apparently empty. | "You really are inside now, bitch." |
| Primordial Wing | ||
| Anomaly | Containment Provisions | Notes |
| A collection of cross sections of an enormous Anguilliformic lifeform. Its internal matter is primarily human corpses that have undergone a form of natural embalming process. | In place of a sealed containment chamber, this anomaly is contained within a large biomedical laboratory, accessible to personnel with biological, chemical, or memetic expertise. | "Now let it rot and be forgotten." |
| An antlered humanoid corpse, lying in a cell whose floor is carpeted in dead plants. On the rear wall, a message is daubed in blood: "I am so sorry - Pangloss" | This room is inaccessible to all personnel. | "Humankind has moved beyond his fires. We are better standing alone." |
| Theosophy Wing | ||
| Anomaly | Containment Provisions | Notes |
| Several piles of large, white feathers. | This chamber is restricted to personnel either of Abrahamic faiths, or those exceeding 80 centiakivas in piety testing of another faith. | "I SAY UNTO YOU, THINK NOT OF THE SHEPARD LOST TO THE SHEEP, BUT OF THE NEW LAND THE SHEEP SHALL GRAZE FREE OF HIS FLAMING BRAND." |
| Splotches of what appear to be iron rust upon the walls and floor. | This chamber is not accessible. | "We've turned back His sevenfold conquest. Here His weapons turn to dust." |
