Item #: SCP-4731
Anomaly Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4731 is under continuous satellite monitoring by the Martian Planetary Security Department (MPSD). The light pollution caused during the anomaly's closest approaches to Mars has been made a focus of an anti-anart smear campaign, citing the defacement of the night sky and other natural scenery as a reason to oppose anartist collectives.
Orbiting SCP-4731 within 200km of its surface or lower is forbidden. The full prevention of conceptual amalgamation from orbital debris is, by the present ability of the Foundation, impossible.
Description: SCP-4731 is an artificial, non-corporeal moon in an eccentric orbit around Mars.1 The moon is an amalgamate conceptual construct, automatically incorporating select concepts from objects and entities that pass through its surface or orbit within a 20km vicinity of the surface. At the present moment, its visual appearance is a hollow sphere layered in instances of the word "containment," written in Comic Sans MS with a rainbow gradient effect. At the center of SCP-4731 is a Toshiba WARD 2050 laptop — accumulated conceptual hazards have prevented in-depth analysis.
The creation of the anomaly have been traced to "[reducted] (sic)" (sic), an anartist collective last known to have been based on the Ashburn Station colony. Following the creation of SCP-4731, the collective vanished, leaving behind all previously created works of anart.2 Suspected, undercover members of the collective are being tracked across outer solar system and Saturnian colonies, though no identities have been ascertained.
Addendum.4731.1: Amalgamation Log
| Date | Event | Added Concept | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15/03/2100 | Initial creation of SCP-4731. | N/A | SCP-4731 spontaneously manifests in Martian orbit. |
| 16/03/2100 | MPSD investigatory sat KEY1N-9V1 propels through the moon's surface, approaching within 50m of the core Toshiba laptop. Grasper appendages are engaged. | Physical Contact | The laptop generates a humanoid arm visually comprised of the phrase "please don't," written in Times New Roman. KEY1N-9V1 is immediately impacted at 5.03 km/s.3 |
| 17/03/2100 | Containment Vessel Eidolon-Naught passes 100m over the moon's surface while operating metaphysical analysis equipment. | Investigation | The ship crew believes they are being monitored by the agents of an interplanetary shadow organization. Panic ensues. |
| 17/03/2100 | CV Eid-0 alters trajectory to flee towards the Martian surface. | Descent | Over the following week SCP-4731 adjusts its orbital path, attaining a perogee at which the anomaly is clearly visible in the Martian night sky. |
| 17/03/2100 | The crew of CV Eid-0 abruptly regains composure, expressing disdain at their behavior. | Descent (metaphorical) | Individuals approaching the anomaly's surface turn increasingly crestfallen and prone to philosophical diatribes on the fallibility of the human mind. |
| 22/03/2100 | Deimos intersects SCP-4731. | Gravity | SCP-4731 attains the gravitational attributes of a sphere with the same density as Deimos. |
| 30/03/2100 | Foundation coms sat COMAR-2534 intersects SCP-4731. | Broadcasting | Internal com lines in the Ares Capital District are disrupted by recordings of New Martian Ska music, bass-amplified. Satellite neutralized. |
| 01/04/2100 | Wreckage from the 2080 Uprising passes within 100km of the anomaly. | Invasion | Automated security stations register SCP-4731 as a hostile threat and use all available orbital bombardment platforms to open fire. Emergency shutdown is triggered and the attack is halted. |
| 13/04/2100 | A stray hauler vessel crate, jettisoned in the past from an unknown source, intersects SCP-4731. Subsequent investigation found that the crate stored quantities of 1980s-era records, historical film reels of rave parties, and blueprints on laser light displays. | Disco | Anomaly luminosity triples. |
