Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is kept in Safe Item Storage within Site-992.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a piece of sheet music that, when performed on a pipe organ, retroactively terminates all living persons occupying the space it is played in. It is dated January 9th, 1566. The composer is unknown.

When the work was recovered from the Medician Academy of Occult Arts (henceforth abbreviated to MAOA), it was accompanied by a letter from the artist, the recipient of which was a known organist from Venice, Italy.

Mister Albiso,

I am at my end. I have truly tore at the seams of the bonds I hold dear. Those that I loved will no longer look my way. Acquaintances no longer speak to me like I am human. My partner, Capello, cannot stand to hold the same pen, less bring it to inspire, when I am in the room.

Life is a miserable task and has nothing more to offer me. And inversely, I am a mistake that ruined the life I was given.

As such, I require your services, my last favor to ask. Albiso, you are the most accomplished in your skill with the church organs. I have heard it myself. I wish for you to play my last piece. I promise you will be unharmed, for finishing a performance will cause the performance itself to have never happened.

I await your response, Albiso.

Given SCP-XXXX's effect, it is believed that the author of the letter had disappeared sometime after it was sent, as the letter itself is evidence of their existence. Confirmation of this theory remains in-progress.

Recovery SCP-XXXX was recovered two days after an exhibition at MAOA's Florentine Academy by a Foundation agent sent at the request of the residing Tutor. When questioned, they stated that their reason for forfeiting the item to Foundation custody was due to the obscurity of the original composer, doubting the significance of their contributions in the Italian Renaissance. The Tutor further mentioned attempts to sell the piece to interested parties, though it had proved to be ineffectual as well, even to representatives from Carter & Dark Ltd. during demonstrations.
