Webcrawler IO-SAURON is to monitor all online spaces and social media for mentions of an individual offering to purchase a target's citizenship.
In the event an SCP-1526-1 instance is located, Class-B amnestics are to be administered to the subject and their immediate family. Additionally, the SCP-1526-1 instance's immediate family is to be relocated to their current location as soon as possible. Description: SCP-1526 refers to a phenomenon affecting individuals possessing two or more citizenships.
Subjects will be approached by an adult human male, designated SCP-1526-A. Witnesses have described its appearance inconsistently, though it has always been described as wearing a tailored suit and possessing several miniature flags pinned to its lapel. SCP-1526-A will then offer the subject a substantial sum of currency in exchange for one of their citizenships. Notably, SCP-1526-A does not specify which of the subject's citizenships it is interested in buying. If the subject does not agree to the sale, SCP-1526-A will depart.
If the subject verbally agrees to SCP-1526-A's terms, they will become an instance of SCP-1526-1 and be instantaneously teleported to a location within one of the nations of which they retain citizenship. Once within this nation, the subject will be unable to return to any territory controlled by the nation/state of their sold citizenship. When attempting to enter any such territory, they will be physically unable to cross borders. This includes embassies and consulship. Attempting to do so will result in the subject meeting an invisible barrier.
Addendum 1526.A — Discovery: SCP-1526 was initially discovered following multiple posts in the off-topic board of Korean tech forum clien.net by user eklasdosl83. Said posts included multiple outbursts of rage towards "the man who took my life from me," later identified as SCP-1526-A.
The posts were flagged for manual review for the keywords: "sudden teleportation" and "mysterious man." Upon further examination by Foundation specialists, the user was identified as Sang-min Park, a former citizen of the United States currently located in Tongyeong, South Korea. Notably, Park had been reported missing by his parents three days prior to the discovery of his posts.
Agents were dispatched to recover Park, who readily complied with the Foundation on the condition he be returned to the United States. Park was interviewed by Agent De La Hoz while on the jet from Mokbo Air Base to Area-99A in Sacramento. Attached below is a log of said interview.
INTERVIEW LOG 1526-XRY1834
De La Hoz: An-nyeong-ha-se-yo, Mister Park. Sorry I haven't come out until now, I've been busy reporting on your situation to my superiors. I'm Agent De La Hoz.
Park: Hi. Nice jet, you fly private often? Beats being teleported.
De La Hoz: I can imagine it was scary for you, but don't worry, we're here to help. And yes, being in my position has its perks.
Park: Must be nice. I've never traveled, except when I emigrated, but I barely remember that.
De La Hoz: That's an experience I am familiar with. And speaking of experiences, I wanted to ask you some questions about your encounter with the man who did this to you.
Park: Smooth transition. Like a jagged cliff.
De La Hoz: Not even a pity laugh?
Park: Sorry, I don't laugh at anything spooks say. Anyway, you were saying?
De La Hoz: Can you describe how the deal went down?
Park: For sure. I was on the bus back from school to my parents place, and he took a seat next to me and offered me a million bucks for one of my citizenships.
De La Hoz: And you accepted?
Park: No shit. How was I meant to know he was serious? Or that he could straight up teleport me and dump me back where I came from forever ago?
De La Hoz: I suppose that's fair.
Park: You suppose? Screw you, spook. It's a stupid scenario.
[There is a brief silence.]
De La Hoz: Anything else you remember?
Park: He looked real fancy. Had some flag pins on his coat. I've never been the best at whatever the study of flags is, but most of them looked fake.
De La Hoz: And the money?
Park: I checked my bank account as soon as I was able to get on the internet back in Tongyeong, and nothing. I did find a check in my pockets, but no bank was up to cash it because a million dollars is 1.47 billion won.
De La Hoz: Do you still have the check?
Park: The police took it from me and threatened me to "not try to cash gag checks."
De La Hoz: That makes sense, sorry it happened. What did you do while you were in Tongyeong?
Park: I crashed at my uncle's place. I was born here, so I was really lucky I have family nearby. But still, it sucked. I had to beg him for money for a flight, but he's just a fisherman so he didn't have anything to give. That was when I made the posts online. I was so mad. I needed to get it out, and I just… damn it, man.
De La Hoz: I believe one of your posts mentioned you had difficulties entering the American embassy in Seoul?
Park: Yeah. Shit was weird. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get in. It was like I was being held back by something. Like the Force or whatever.
De La Hoz: Hmm. And you continued to try going in until security confronted you?
Park: Yeah. I didn't want to get in trouble with the police again, so I bailed when I saw the guard stand up inside. Felt bad because my uncle wasted so much money in buying me a train ticket to the city, and I came back empty-handed.
De La Hoz: Don't worry, Mr. Park. We've issued a refund to him.
Park: What? Really? Wow. Thanks.
De La Hoz: Of course. And just out of my own curiosity, since you had internet in Tongyeong, why didn't you ask for parents back home for money?
Park: They're food service workers, man. We can barely afford the apartment we rent, much less tuition for the community college I go to. I didn't think they would believe me if I told them I was in Korea anyway.
De La Hoz: I can empathize. I did some digging into you when I heard about your case, and—
[The jet enters American airspace, flying over Hawaii. As this happens, Park is dragged backwards through his seat by an invisible wall and then through the fuselage of the jet, resulting in his death. The cabin decompresses, and De La Hoz is nearly sucked out as the jet makes an emergency landing over Kaho’olawe. The remainder of the crew survived the landing.]

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-1526-1 are to be monitored by Foundation assets in their current locations. All attempts for these subjects to return to their place of origin are to be denied. Families and other associates are to be issued Class-C amnestics, and falsified records showing their move to their current location. Foundation personnel operating in diplomatic "hot spots" are to be notified of all SCP-1526 phenomena occuring in their area, and to be ready to place priority of their evacuation if their residence is threatened.
Description: SCP-1526 is a phenomenon affecting human subjects who have dual or multiple citizenship, and are residing in countries with a population of >2 million people.
Subjects will be approached by a humanoid male, designated SCP-1526-A. Witnesses have described its appearance inconsistently, although it has always been described as wearing expensive-looking clothing and having several miniature flags pinned to its lapel. SCP-1526-A will then offer the subject a substantial sum of currency or other valuable items in exchange for one of their citizenships. The exact citizenship being sold is not specified, and if the subject does not agree to the sale, SCP-1526-A will depart.
Once they have agreed verbally to SCP-1526-A's terms, the subject will be instantaneously teleported to a location within one of the nations they are a citizen of. The nation they are teleported to will be the one with the lower population. Once within this nation, the subject will be unable to return to any territory controlled by the nation-state of their sold citizenship. When attempting to enter any such territory, such as overseas, through an ambassador or consulship, or through air travel, they will be unable to physically cross the borders. Attempting to do so will result in the subject meeting an invisible barrier. Vehicles containing the subject will be able to pass through, as will clothing worn by them. Currently, no subject affected by SCP-1526 has been in an area conquered, annexed, or otherwise acquired by their former nation.
At the same time that the subject is displaced, an entity (hereafter referred to as SCP-1526-1) will appear within the nation from which the subject sold their citizenship with documents identifying them as legal residents or permanent aliens residing within that country. Instances of SCP-1526-1 appear to be humanoids with varying appearances. However, the internal structure is radically different from those found in humans, being composed of alien physiology. Among the 31 currently contained SCP-1526-1 instances, several internal structures were found to be exceptionally notable, including:
- A human body which was entirely filled with carpeting fibers. Identified itself as "Juan" and had legal residency papers for the nation of Spain.
- Humanoid whose upper body constantly produce a thick, black smoke, which obscured their face and upper torso. Believed to be an instance of SCP-1362.
- Human body was filled with 6,319 slug-like organisms of unknown composition. Was in possession of 6,319 temporary work visas for the nation of Austria. Work visas were found to be valid.
- Internal structure was entirely mechanical. Appeared to have no legal residency documentation. Note that the subject approached by SCP-1526-A had received a sum of only 175 Norwegian kroner.
- An individual claiming to be a citizen of the Republic of Arnold Fitzwilliams.
- Subject was a plastic mannequin with residency documents for the nation of Indonesia taped to its buttocks. Believed to be related to SCP-1526 phenomenon due to materializing within 200 meters of a subject affected by SCP-1526.
- A humanoid dressed in poorly-cut cloth approximation of black tactical gear and green uniform. Believed to be an instance of SCP-2771-1.
All instances of SCP-1526-1 have been found to be in possession of a version of this document.

SCP-1526 was first noted when a subject affected by it attempted to return to her country of origin. During the flight, the subject was forced out of her seat and through the rear fuselage of the aircraft, resulting in her death; in the ensuing crash, 20 other passengers were killed, and 100 were injured. Foundation investigation into this subject revealed the SCP-1526 phenomenon, and as a result two instances of SCP-1526-1 were recovered.
As of 9/18/1979, SCP-1526 has been classified as Euclid.
