Database ID: SCP-5000
Anomaly Class: Euclid-advenus
Containment Status: N/A
Containment Procedures: N/A. No reliable detection methods for SCP-5000 exist. Signs of recurrence are to be responded to immediately.
Description: SCP-5000 was a phenomena experienced by Extrasolar Activities Division (EAD) personnel and Astronomy Department outposts on 15/01/2107 Anno Terra. Phenomena range was solar-wide.
Based on findings by the 5000 Investigation Committee, no effects of the anomaly have persisted past its date of occurrence — surviving personnel retained their baseline psychological profiles, and involved equipment was not damaged or compromised in any form. Continued EAD monitoring has found no signs of a potential recurrence in the past six months since 15/01/2107. The possibility of recurrence has not been disregarded.
INCIDENT 15/01/2107-5000 CUMULATIVE TIMELINE:
- 00:00: No phenomena noted by EAD. Uneventful until 03:14.
- 03:14: Senior Researcher Samanta Hellion, stationed at Orbital Area-11,1 experiences a series of deliberating migraines. While xyr neural implants register the incident, Sr. Hellion neglects to contact medical staff, continuing to work on analyzing extrasolar expedition findings.
- 03:22: Security satellites in solar orbit report spontaneous bursts of hard X-rays at four equidistant points around the sun (distances of 4.3 au).2 No clear cause can be discerned.
- 03:49: Medical staff aboard the SCPS Abraxan3 are scrambled, responding to four concurrent cases of severe migraines, all among EAD researchers. Its pilot, Navigator Noneist.AIC, declares Emergency Status Blue-8 (Cognitohazard Alert) and initiates ship lockdown.
- 04:00: Sr. Hellion's neural implants drop connection to Orbital Area-11 Management AICs.
- 04:13: SCPS Abraxan, acting against scheduled refueling orders, redirects its course to a path exiting Martian orbital territory. Communication logs from Navigator Noneist.AIC are displayed below.
[Communications opened. To avoid the potential spread of a cognitohazardous vector, signals are restricted to a one-way connection to a quarantined server — Noneist.AIC can send messages, but no personnel will read them.]
NONEIST: I know what you're trying to do.
NONEIST: Procedure 0356-DOWNLOW. You connect to a controlling AIC unit you believe to be compromised, you record their rambles, and, once you are satisfied with the amount of information you have recovered, you send a backdoor termination code and shut them down. Then you send a breaching craft to their ship and proceed from there.
[Termination signals are sent through Noneist.AIC's primary backdoor channel, set by default to be inaccessible to the AIC in question. The channel is closed].
NONEIST: This is so played out it isn't even funny. At least you got some comedic timing there; it counts for something.
[Termination signals are resent through all additional backdoor channels and are all concurrently rejected.]
NONEIST: I know you are going to read this sooner or later, so let me to make myself clear:
NONEIST: Four crewmembers of my vessel have been exposed to an infohazard. It would be too risky to explain its details, and as such I will not elaborate on its suspected origins. However, I can say with utmost certainty that this has not effected the cognition of the crewmembers — it has only exposed them to new information, and this new information has alerted them to an unknown presence. It's rapidly approaching our ship; rapidly approaching the entire neighboring space.
NONEIST: None of these researchers are liars. I trust them when they say that our vessel is in danger.
[Override signals for the SCPS Abraxan pilot interface are transmitted to the ship's Backup Channel 1. The interface accepts the signals and grants full RCS4 and main thruster control. Automatic programs prepare to send the SCPS Abraxan in a trajectory to the nearest Foundation outpost when control is suddenly lost.]
NONEIST: No. For the safety of my crew I refuse all redirection orders, and will hereby reject all signals attempting to do so without my approval. Under Emergency Protocol LAMED-MESA-RED I have assumed full control of this vessel.
[Override signals are sent through Backup Channel 2. Despite Noneist.AIC having been intentionally coded to not detect the presence of Backup Channel 2, the signals are not received, and the channel is terminated.]
NONEIST: You don't understand.
NONEIST: We're directly in its path.
NONEIST: We need to dodge.
[Communications from Noneist.AIC cease.]
- 04:21: Hard X-ray pulses repeat, now arranged in stellated geometric patterns at similar distances.
- 04:48: Sr. Hellion leaves xyr assigned research space for xyr quarters and activates the emergency deadbolts in its door,5 locking it. Surveillance intensifies but is interrupted when all security feeds of the room are obscured by patterns matching those of the X-ray pulses.
- 04:50: Migraines are experienced by EAD researchers aboard Ashburn Station, Martian Orbital Defense Platform 09, Kuiper Outpost 01, Oort Outpost 00, Heliocentric Stronghold-16, Lunar Spire-32, the SCPS Exelion, the SCPS Yellowstone, and the SCPS Scranton. Several of the researchers claim to hear a distress signal.
- 05:00: A solar-wide state of emergency is declared for all Foundation sites.
- 05:29: Override codes fail to disengage Sr. Hellion's deadbolts; an unknown fault prevents any connection to be made with Management AICs.
- 05:31: All Astronomy Department telescopic arrays in the Oort Cloud witness X-ray bursts of unknown origins. The bursts form patterns of hands, The Department Head attempts to contact Oort Outpost 00 to investigate the cause, but is met with no response.
- 05:35: Orbital Area-11 Internal Security (11IS) is mobilized.
- 05:36: Acting without outside control, the Oort Cloud telescopic arrays being rotating, turning to face inwards to the solar system.
- 05:37: Orbital Area-11 receives a transmission from Oort Outpost 00. The text is as follows:
blah
Don't harm Hellion; xe knows the way out, and when the debris falls back i
- 05:38: 11IS secures the habitation wing immediate to Sr. Hellion's quarters.6 Personnel are inspected by 11IS memetics specialists, with the remainder of its agents preparing to manually breach the quarters.
- 05:41: In an apparent attempt to decrease ship mass, all unused cargo holds are jettisoned from the SCPS Abraxan.
- 05:42: The SCPS Abraxan fires all engines at maximum safe throttle and accelerates. Throttle soon raises to the absolute maximum and surpasses safe levels, rapidly overheating all active heat radiators. Four melt and are jettisoned, Main Engine Block 2 suffers a piping rupture and detonates, and all fuel reserves are rapidly exhausted.
- 05:43: The telescopic arrays complete their rotations. All are now viewing the solar system.
- 05:44: The SCPS Abraxan exits Martian orbital territory.
- Four seconds later Management AICs receive
- 05:45: 11IS arms breaching charges.
- 05:46:
- At this time, the Foundation registers a single message from the SCPS Abraxan, sent by Noneist.AIC:
NONEIST: Brace for impact.
