Description: SCP-009-EX is an unnamed island atoll 300 km West of the southernmost point in the Republic of Kiribati. Though originally believed to be an undiscovered island due to its remote location and absence from navigation charts and other similar records, SCP-009-EX was found to possess memory-altering properties.

These effects are observable in SCP-009-EX's native population1. Subjects within the island exhibit a notable lack of short-term memory, swelling of the hippocampus and amygdala, and a 76% Alzheimer's disease rate among those over the age of 40. Some of their practices have not evolved beyond those of the Stone Age; they are not known to engage in agriculture and are a hunter-gatherer society revolving around the worship of SCP-009-1-EX.

Natives of SCP-009-EX are governed by a shamanistic figure, currently, a female believed to be between 40 and 60 years of age2. The subject is known to possess immunity to the properties of SCP-009-EX and leads the natives in the worship of SCP-009-1-EX.

As of [Date], the native population of SCP-009-EX have become hostile towards Foundation personnel. As per Ethics Committee Decree 1221-ORI-XY, no further interactions with the natives are to be conducted.
