SCP-XXXX: Red in Tooth and Claw

Item №: SCP-XXXX

Anomaly Class: Keter-impetus

Special Containment Procedures: ##

Description: SCP-XXXX is a massive spectral entity composed of the combined spirits of over 1,500 animals of ~200 different species. The entity is translucent and selectively corporeal, visually manifesting as a rapidly shifting mass of bestial body-parts. SCP-XXXX consistently displays both a 'head' section composed of between one- and two-hundred (primarily carnivorous) mouths of various types and sizes, and elongated collections of fused limbs, the latter being its primary method of locomotion. When left to its own devices, SCP-XXXX will slowly circle the perimeter of Area-402, vocalising continuously and pausing to damage structures and consume organic matter in its vicinity. SCP-XXXX is simultaneously carnivorous, herbivorous, and omnivorous, a trait that appears to cause the entity a great deal of distress while eating.

Although the SCPF Ethics Committee has granted permission to terminate SCP-XXXX (due to both ongoing containment difficulties and its own apparent discomfort), all attempts made thus far have failed. The construction of an Incorporeal Entity Vacuum Chamber large enough to contain SCP-XXXX poses several challenges at the theoretical level, and is almost certainly unfeasible.

Formation and Discovery: SCP-XXXX first manifested on ##/##/####, twelve days after an unconstrained fire at ###### Zoo, England, caused the deaths of 85% of the zoo's animals. ##

Protocol NEKHEN: On ##/##/####, following the deaths of two members of the SCP-XXXX containment team and the injury of two others, Dr. Anton Mostella proposed the following alteration to SCP-XXXX's containment procedures. The proposal consists of the following breach and behavioural countermeasures:

  • ####
  • ####

####

While several researchers have voiced concerns over the growing body-mass of SCP-XXXX, the Overseer Council has decided that the entity's docility is more valuable to containment than its reduced size and complexity. On ##/##/####, Area-402 was given the Silver Breach Award1, and Protocol NEKHEN was deemed successful. The reclassification of SCP-XXXX as Euclid is pending.
