SCP-XXXX: Saving The Day

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid Thaumiel

Special Containment Procedures:

Description: SCP-XXXX-1 through -3 are megastructures designed to harness the entire power output of a single stellar body. Each consists of a hollow sphere lined with several tiers of intermittently-spaced photovoltaic panels (each between 10 and 400 kilometres wide) and city-sized structures equivalent in function to the Foundation's Class-14 TENEBRAE Engines. The energy collected by these devices is fed through wiring of unknown composition, terminating at large spires on the external surface; attempts to breach these spires have been unsuccessful so far, and the current hypothesis is that they represent a form of wireless energy transmission, either through entanglement, spatial distortion, or arcane Way creation.

SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 are both ~800,000 kilometres in diameter, and are designed to harvest smaller, main-sequence or dwarf stars. SCP-XXXX-3 is significantly larger (~10,000,000 kilometres in diameter), and is presumably designed to harvest red supergiants. Only SCP-XXXX-1 has been physically investigated, with the latter two having been observed only at great distance.

All instances of SCP-XXXX are capable of instantaneous spatial transportation into sufficiently powerful gravity wells, and do so whenever their current target is reduced to a dwarf state, teleporting in such a way that they fully encompass the next closest correctly-sized star. Based on the rate at which SCP-XXXX-1 is harvesting, these transportation events occur at intervals of between 2,000 and 10,000 years (Anno Terra). Since SCP-XXXX's discovery in 20##, only SCP-XXXX-2 has changed position.

No instance of SCP-XXXX currently poses a risk to our sun. Directive Locksmith is in progress. Persons with Level 4/XXXX clearance may see Addendum.# for more details.
