SCP-XXX: Horny On Main
rating: 0+x

Item №: SCP-XXX

Anomaly Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX is largely self-concealing due to its properties, as described below. Research Task Force Rho-34 ("Fetishists") is currently tasked with ensuring said self-concealment through investigation of various authors of web-based adult fiction, and the conduction of surveys regarding current trends in the consumption/production of these works. Foundation webcrawler I/O-Nu has been deployed for the automated fulfilment of the same purpose.

Description: SCP-XXX is the designation given to the overabundance of written erotic and pornographic fiction available on the internet. Current estimates suggest the quantity of these works (individually designated instances of W-XXX) is around 200,000 times larger than would be predicted without anomalous intervention, and greatly exceeds the quantity of written erotica producible even with a coordinated effort by the majority of humanity.

Research efforts aimed towards locating the source of SCP-XXX have determined that the anomalous effect applies only to the W-XXX instances available to read in potentia — when investigated individually, mundane sources and authors will always be found (to the greatest degree possible given the internet's inherent anonymity). The specific proportions of genres produced by civilians will therefore directly correspond to the proportions of genres sought out and read by civilians; while this level of coincidence initially proved a potential source of information breach, the increase in commissioned and publicly shared works has allowed for a mundane explanation using traditional 'supply and demand' economics.

No W-XXX instance has ever been traced to an anomalous or extraordinary source, save those instances (W-XXX-T1 through T30) penned by the research team during testing.

It is conjectured that a focused effort to observe the entirety of SCP-XXX would effectively neutralise the anomaly by 'realising' all available works; due to logistical and humanitarian concerns with regards to the required manpower, this option is not currently being considered.
