Special Containment Procedures: Item 1 is to be kept in a locked and darkened container with padded walls at all times. Item 2 may be stored in any suitable container at the discretion of the Site-18 containment lead.
Interaction with either item is not required except during prescribed enclosure maintenance.
Description: Both items obtained 1998 from government possession following seizure of transportation vehicle in Nairobi, Kenya. Moved to Site-18 2002. Origins are unknown.
Item 1 is a jug shaped like a man. It is comprised of stoneware ceramic painted pale blue, with a clear glaze and no identifying markings. The item is animate but non-hostile, and is capable of reacting to visual stimuli; it is otherwise insensate. If unprovoked, it will engage in simple repetitive motion: walking in circles, raising and lowering its hands, and so on. This is considered normal behaviour and observed deviations are to be reported immediately.
The lack of physical sensation on Item 1’s part means its movements frequently scratch or chip its surface. It is currently missing two fingers on its left hand and has a noticeable crack extending from its opening (located at the top of its head) to the base of its neck. Injury seems to cause the item no distress, but should be prevented wherever possible as it possesses no regenerative abilities. Attempts to replace its missing digits with mundane ceramics have had little effect, though adhesive sealant applied to its head wound has improved both its durability and ability to retain liquids. Item 1 can hold up to 4 pints of water and should be cleaned thoroughly after use.
Item 2 is a man shaped like a jug. It is blind and incapable of movement but reacts to most non-visual stimuli, including physical sensations and high or low temperatures. Item 2 can hold up to 2 gallons of water, though this is discouraged as it restricts the item’s airway. Hypoxia has been determined to be non-fatal.
