Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a standard humanoid containment cell. SCP-XXXX is to be denied any education above elementary school level. Personnel interacting with SCP-XXXX are to be assigned a list of words permitted to be used around the anomaly.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 14 year old human whose abilities manifest when attempting to comprehend new speech. Upon attempting to learn a word or figure of speech, SCP-XXXX's Wernicke's region will begin heating up, though SCP-XXXX does not appear to notice this change.

Upon hitting approximately 200 degrees Celsius, an explosion will occur, centered around the anomaly's Wernicke's Region. The energy in this explosion is in proportion to the difficulty of understanding the new word. SCP-XXXX is unaffected by the explosion, regardless of severity.

Addendum XXXX-1

Word or Phrase Result
"Aeroplane" Temperature rose to only 150 degrees Celsius. No explosion.
"Dormitory" Approximately 2 joules of energy released.
"Dorm" No change.
"Fraternity" SCP-XXXX was introduced to the word through the phrase "A fraternity is like a dorm for boys only." Temperature rose to only 130 degrees Celsius. No explosion.
"Obstinate" Approximately 4 gigajoules of energy released.
"You're driving me up a wall" Unknown. Instruments for recording the energy released were damaged in the explosion. Site-61 received significant infrastructure damage and all anomalies contained there were temporarily relocated.

Addendum XXXX-2: A proposal to teach educate SCP-XXXX as efficiently and safely as possible was submitted and approved. The proposal noted the success of the Dorm-Fraternity test as a means of learning more complex words through comparing it with those that the entity had already memorized.

The experiment proved to be successful until SCP-XXXX was introduced to pre-calculus. Despite its best efforts, SCP-XXXX was unable to fully memorize or comprehend all concepts in the topic matter and would routinely set off explosions during lessons.

Eventually, the experiment was ended after it was revealed that SCP-XXXX had begun to forget words it had previously learned, like "aeroplane," and thus the researchers would inevitably have to reteach SCP-XXXX everything it had learned prior. At the point of writing, this cause is as of yet unknown. Containment procedures were revised to include a list of words that SCP-XXXX has shown to retain or relearn consistently without difficulty.

Addendum XXXX-3: A proposal to use mnestics was submitted in an attempt to recreate the success of the previous experiment. The team assigned to SCP-XXXX was permitted 10 Class Y pills to determine if they had any effect on the entity's memory.

During the trial run, SCP-XXXX was subjected to the same topics as the previous experiment. The mnestics failed to improve memory retention in any significant way and experiment was abandoned.

Following the results of this experiment, the Site Director at Site-61 has announced that no further testing is to continue on SCP-XXXX.

Discovery: Foundation personnel were notified of SCP-XXXX when it was reported a house that been destroyed in a conflagration, despite the lack of combustible material. The entity was found along with the ashes of two other individuals. Beside SCP-XXXX was the flame-retardant cover of the King James Bible.
