Call 3

< BEGIN LOG >

Mathias: Hi again. You scared me last time.

SCP-XXXX-1: Why do you keep on calling? Please, I don't know why this is happening so just leave me alone.

Mathias: I want to help you. I'm with the government.

[There is a brief stop in the conversation where SCP-XXXX-1 can be heard breathing heavily and sniffling.]

SCP-XXXX-1: Really?

Mathias: Yes. I want to help. Can you tell me your name?

SCP-XXXX-1:

Mathias: I promise I'm here to help. Your name would help me help you.

SCP-XXXX-1: Sarah.

Mathias: Sarah. That's a lovely name, thank you. And your last name?

SCP-XXXX-1: I… I don't remember. I don't remember a lot of things.

Mathias: Do you know where you are at least?

SCP-XXXX-1: No. It's dark in here and I don't know how you keep calling and I answer.

Mathias: Okay. Don't worry, Sarah. We're going to try to see if we can find you. Just stay on the line with me, okay?

SCP-XXXX-1: Yes… your name was Mathias, right?

Mathias: That's right.

SCP-XXXX-1: Thank you. You're the first person to ever be so nice to me. Everyone just calls to hit on me…

Mathias: Don't worry. I promise I'm here to help you out. We don't know your situation, but we're going to get to the bottom of it, okay?

[Command informs Mathias they were unable to track SCP-XXXX-1's location. He is informed to question SCP-XXXX-1 for any useful information.]

Mathias: Seems like we can't find you using our regular methods. You said you don't know where you are and its just darkness, right?

SCP-XXXX-1: Yes. I can't feel anything either. I don't know anything about where I am or what's going on. It's just… dark and I'm scared. The only time anything ever happens is when people call me.

Mathias: I'm sorry to hear. Sarah, hang with me here. I need you to try for me. Do you remember anything from before you were where you are?

SCP-XXXX-1: N-no… not really. I remember I was going to meet someone for work but I don't… I don't know what happened after.

Mathias: For work? Like a co-worker or to do a job?

SCP-XXXX-1: I remember I was meeting them to do work. I just can't remember what.

Mathias: Okay. How old are you, Sarah?

SCP-XXXX-1: I don't know… I think I'm older than 30?

Mathias: And are you from around here?

SCP-XXXX-1: Where is here?

Mathias: Bloomington, Indiana.

SCP-XXXX-1: I think I'm from there. I remember living around there but… I don't know. There's a lot I can't remember.

Mathias: It's okay, Sarah. What do you look like?

SCP-XXXX-1: I… I don't know.

Mathias: Do you have any relatives you might remember? Anyone who might be able to give us a hint as to what happened to you?

SCP-XXXX-1: I don't know. I'm sorry, I'm making things so hard…

[Mathias is instructed to terminate the call.]

Mathias: Thank you for everything, Sarah. I will have to go now.

SCP-XXXX-1: Wait, no… please don't go.

Mathias: I'm sorry. I have to.

SCP-XXXX-1: Please…

Mathias: … Goodbye, Sarah. I'll call again soon. I promise.

Call 4

< BEGIN LOG >

Mathias: Hello?

SCP-XXXX-1: Mathias, is that you?

Mathias: Yes, it's me, Sarah.

SCP-XXXX-1: Thank goodness… I was getting scared you weren't going to call again.

Mathias: I did promise I would call back, didn't I? It just took a few days is all.

SCP-XXXX-1: Days? Has it been that long? I can't tell…

Mathias: You can't tell the passage of time?

SCP-XXXX-1: No… Like I told you, it's all black here all the time. The time between calls feels like forever and no time at all at the same time. I wish I knew how to better explain it, but I know it's not normal…

Mathias: I see. So Sarah, today I wanted to ask you some questions and see if you could remember anything to better let us help you.

SCP-XXXX-1: Okay…

Mathias: You said you were meeting someone for a job. Can you remember if you were applying for a job, showing up to a usual job, or anything in between?

SCP-XXXX-1: … let me think…

Mathias: Take all the time you need, Sarah.

[There is a three-minute silence in the call.]

SCP-XXXX-1: I think… I think I was meeting someone I knew. Someone from work maybe.

Mathias: Okay. Anything else you can recall?

SCP-XXXX-1: No…

Mathias: That's fine. Do you think you could try remembering what day it was before all this happened?

SCP-XXXX-1: I… I think it was in December. I remember it being cold. I remember getting dressed up because of the cold… But I don't know why I remember that.

Mathias: Thank you. I know how hard it is to remember these things for you.

SCP-XXXX-1: You… You're the nicest guy I've ever talked to Mathias…

Mathias: I'm just doing my job. But listen, I have to go. I'll call you again soon, okay?

SCP-XXXX-1: O-okay… I'll look forward to that, then. Goodbye, Mathias.

Mathias: Goodbye, Sarah.

<END LOG>

Following this conversation, the SCP-XXXX research team began searching for disappearances in Bloomington, Indiana taking place in the winter. This narrowed search results down to one subject; Sarah Allgrove, age 32, missing as of 31/12/2012. The SCP-XXXX research team then conducted preliminary investigations into Sarah Allgrove and found she was a customer service representative at Madrigal Contact Center Solutions with no immediate family or significant other in the area. A home address was also found, as well as a complaint filed by the landlord to local law enforcement to help dispose of Allgrove's belongings after various lapsed rent payments.

Believing this to be SCP-XXXX-1's identity, Researcher Mathias was instructed to call SCP-XXXX-1 again and inform if of its assumed identity.

Call 5

<BEGIN LOG>

Mathias: Hello, Sarah.

SCP-XXXX-1: Mathias? Is that you?

Mathias: Yes, it's me. How are you?

SCP-XXXX-1: I feel like I can't breathe when you're not here. I don't know how to describe it but I only really feel like I'm here when you call me. I don't like it when I have to go back to being nothing… I-it scares me, you know what I mean?

Mathias: I think I get what you're saying. But I'm calling you with some good news. We think we know who you are.

SCP-XXXX-1: You do?

Mathias: Yes. We think you're Madison Allgrove, a former employee at Madrigal Contact Center Solutions. You lived in 8213 Cherrygrove street apartment 1221. Your phone number used to 555-XXXX, which is the same number I call to reach you.

SCP-XXXX-1:

Mathias: Are you there, Madison?

SCP-XXXX-1: Yeah… Why can't I remember any of this? Why am I stuck in here? Why am I… Why am I… [SCP-XXXX-1 screams.]

Mathias: Madison, are you alright? What's the matter?

SCP-XXXX-1: [screaming] Why is this happening to me? What did I do to deserve this?!

Mathias: I'm sure you didn't do anything to deserve this. Bad things happen to good people all the time. Look, we're going to do some more research on you before I call you again, okay?

SCP-XXXX-1: You mean to say you're going to hang up again?

Mathias: I have to.

SCP-XXXX-1: No! Please don't! It feels so empty when we're not talking. Please, Mathias, please, I'll do anything. Please.

Mathias: Madison, I'm very sorry but I have to go now. I'll call you soon.

[SCP-XXXX-1 weeps.]

Redford: Oh no. Hope no one's in trouble.

Jasmine: Does Madison Allgrave ring any bells for you?

[Redford is silent for a moment.]

Redford: Yes. What about her?

Jasmine: She's disappeared. Been that way for a while now, and you were her manager, is that right?

Redford: I was, yes. Shame she's gone. Pretty girl. Very lovely.

Jasmine: What do you remember of her?

Redford: Very standoffish. She didn't know how to take a compliment.
