SCP-XXXX
SCP-XXXX-1, as depicted by D-1109.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is stored in a Safe class containment locker at Site-7.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a world globe, created by Martin Behaim in 1491. SCP-XXXX is anomalously dense, weighing approximately 31 kilograms. Sampling indicates SCP-XXXX was constructed of mundane materials, and it is presently theorized to be the outer shell of a spatial manifold concealing its additional mass.
Photographic examination indicates that SCP-XXXX closely approximates the world as it was known to Behaim and other cartographers at the time,1 but all subjects that examine it in person become convinced that it depicts an additional location, designated SCP-XXXX-1. This location is universally described as an island called "The Tower Of All That Which May Be Seen," in the native language of whomever has examined SCP-XXXX.
The conviction that SCP-XXXX-1 exists persists beyond contact with SCP-XXXX itself. Persons that have been exposed to SCP-XXXX are able to perceive the presence of SCP-XXXX-1 when viewing other maps that contain the area it is alleged to be. Additionally, exposed persons are able to perceive information regarding SCP-XXXX-1 from other sources, such as textual or video media. Due to the nature of this anomalous property, it is entirely a question of chance whether a given non-anomalous media source will be reported to contain information related to SCP-XXXX-1. Amnestics are ineffective in removing this conviction.
Surveys of SCP-XXXX-affected individuals exposed to modern maps and other kinds of information suggest the following of SCP-XXXX-1:
- It is a volcanic island located in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 80 kilometers northwest of the Iberian Peninsula.
- It is approximately 40 square kilometers in area.
- It contains
