The story behind the monster forms for the Uns is honestly a fun one. A single line from Deadlined via the Uncontained: "I would not recommend you try. This frame?" He pinched his own cheek. "These lovely care-worn wrinkles? Window dressing. You won't like what you see if you press your faces to the glass." got my brain a-ticking. Between it, and the dialogue tags often calling both the brothers "Beasts," I found myself cracking away at the designs for two monsters that would encapsulate what both of them represent — bringing in various bits of symbolism from across OG43.

And then I drew them a shit ton because they were fun, and Harry ended up really liking them, which all combined into him asking me to draw the beasts again for the 001 as part of their aura read, officially canonizing these designs as a part of what the Brothers are capable of. Which is also how we got this tale, complete with some of the best art I've done to date!

This is my rewrite of SCP-332, The 1976 Kirk Lonwood High School Marching Band. It is a daunting prospect to rewrite an article this old and famous, but it really never did all that much with the concept initially presented. I was mulling over the rewritable Series 1 slots, saw this, and realized I had a direction for a rewrite — so I hopped right on it, and got to work.

My goal with the ListPages here is that the first offset is a very classic version of the article, one that hews closely to the original premise (with one exception, see below). This preserves any references to SCP-332 found elsewhere. I get funky with things in the second offset, but that's set five hundred years later and can be ignored for continuity with other canons if needed. Still part of the story, but the base anomaly isn't locked into Ad Astra Per Aspera.

Thanks to the following for helping to get this into shape:

• LORDXVNV — Initial help with idea crit, led me to focus on AAPA instead of a mix of canons as I had initially considered. Later general crit.
• Ralliston, GremlinGroup, DrBleep — General crit.

- First offset is a very standard rewrite of SCP-332. It removes the elements of the music causing other people to join in (the Pied Piper effect), the massacre at Kirk Lonwood, but is otherwise the same. Some small details to play around with:
— Instead of playing every 48 hours, they play every Friday during the high school football season / lead up to the season, on an annual basis.
— Instead of standing in the field, they stand in their music room.
— The music room and field are similarly indestructible.
— Replace the logs at the end with a series of notes. Every kid in the ban expressed some kind of anxiety or fears about growing older / graduating high school / intense joy in what they were currently doing. Basically, they set themselves up to get nostalgia trapped in their present form.
— This version is short and mostly unchanged, to allow for 332 to remain what it needs to be for the minds of the public / backlinks.

Second offset:
— Set in Ad Astra Per Aspera, in the year 2476
— It has been five hundred years. A human and a taronyu researcher descend through the antimemetic fog on Earth to check out SCP-332.
— In the present future, SCP-332 is primarily described not as the band, but as the entirety of the surroundings, which are the only memetically-aligned region on the surface on the planet Earth. Everything else has been totally obliterated by LETHE events.
— the nostalgia and memories of 332, however, are strong enough to completely overpower the LETHE fog, and this is the one area on Earth that can be remembered.
— "high school", in the form that it took in 1976 America at least, is completely gone. The taronyu researcher has absolutely no familiarity with it. The concept of "educating teenagers" is not strange to them, but SCP-332 / Class of '76 is so baked into the specific mold of high school of 1900s/2000s America that the idiosyncracies are strange to them — like a marching band.
— the kids who are in the marching band will never change. they are in a world completely divorced from what they once was. the thing they have nostalgia for is gone, utterly obliterated. this is not because of a K-Class directly, but any societal change will have these impacts.

This article has been a really, REALLY long project. I think I officially started working on this over a year ago, and added more to the hub with my coauthors consistently throughout that time. I've been interested in the idea of "tactical theology" for much longer, and now — over fifty articles and two whole themes later — we've got an answer. It still astounds me how much the simple notion of "tactical theology" can inspire, and I'm happy that years later, the well of creativity still hasn't come close to drying up.

SCP-7000 - We Will Endure

The Hy-Brasil luck wards were first mentioned in LTE-0851-Cetus, back in 2018. I never really put too much thought into them at the time, but it was an element of the canon that's existed since the earliest days: Hy-Brasil falls because of its own hubris.

I was pretty stumped when "Luck" was announced as the 7K theme, and then remembered this — it occurred to me that I could spin a story out of that concept, and make a new origin for War on All Fronts. This ties back into one of the oldest ideas for a WoAF article, that's never fully be manifested: a fairy princess who knows the island will fall and dies in the attack, an idea had by myself or someone else who I discussed WoAF with back in 2018. The article here is loosely connected to that theme, but it was an inspiration.

Some notes:

• O5-1 at one point calls the Tuatha Dé Danann "leprechauns". This is an incredibly offensive and inaccurate racial slur. It does not represent what they actually look or behave like.
• One line from this — "It wasn’t supposed to storm in Hy-Brasil." — is a quote from DrChandra's A Foul Storm in a Fair Land. It's pretty minor so I'm not citing it in the licensebox.

War when divorced from context is an insane death cult.

rereading this, I think I want to rethink some major segments of it (particularly the tabs after the first.) There's a lot of good writing in here that I'm fond of, but it's all rather … unfocused, I suppose. I think one of the strongest ideas is the utter unthinkability of war to somebody who isn't familiar with it: the scope and level of violence just simply cannot be grasped.

but I really like that idea about the "war is the mother of invention" bit being bullshit. I really hate that sentiment.

This SCP is an allegory. The actual literalism of the nature of the other world are not as important as the message and story it tells. It is not about the world without war. It is about us. Please do not comment about how unrealistic a world without war would be; I won't read or listen to that. This is speculative fiction. I do not care about the realism of the concept of a world that has never known war. The world without war is a utopia. It is a no-place. It doesn't exist and isn't realistic. Neither of those matter to the story I wanted to tell.

I got the title for this from TalktoTransformer. I liked the idea — a world without war — but wasn't sure how to do it well. It was always meant to be a mirror, in which it would really say more about us than them. Then it hit me that I should turn the world around, giving me the ability to actually discuss us in the lense of a clinical tone. The World Without War isn't important. It isn't real. But maybe, it could be?

May, 1991
Prometheus Labs determines it needs a defense of some kind against giant monsters. It purchases the corpse of the crocosquid and begins an effort to create a cyborg zombie from it.

April 17th, 1998
Researcher Emile Metcalfe is transferred to a Foundation site in order to analyze a Fifthist temple that appeared to worship giant monsters. He thinks in depth about their nature, and what these beasts are.

June 28th, 1998
Prometheus Labs awakens the cyborg crocosquid. Their control mechanisms immediately fail, and it destroys their laboratory before escaping into the ocean.

At the same time, the Foundation site where Researcher Metcalfe was stationed explodes, a pulse of energy released by the dead entity he had been studying.

June 30th, 1998
The crocosquid finally finds another kaiju and devours it whole.

At the same time, various other kaiju begin to wake up across the world, as the resurrection magic used by Prometheus Labs inadvertently wakes them up.

Wilson's Wildlife Solutions finds themselves dealing with their own monster.

July 10th, 1998
An emergency meeting between the Foundation, the Global Occult Coalition and Hy-Brasil convenes to discuss options for the current end of the world. They agree to collaborate on a

HOLY FUCK IT'S DEAD

I have been working on this draft for literally years. This has been an absolute white whale of a draft. I've known the story for this for years, where to take it and how to make it work, but I just could never put the words to paper, get the writing out.

The first inspiration that led to this draft: the first concept in the lineage of this draft, was originally conceptualized in what was probably October 2017. (I don't remember the exact date.) I don't know what happened to the draft for the next few months, but the first version of this I have access to was posted on April 18, 2018. However, I know that there were earlier versions that I have since lost, because I definitely wrote previous versions.

That being said, it's stayed very consistent to what is happening since that first revision. It's remarkable how little the draft has changed on the whole since it was initially conceptualized. The exact specifics of what occurs on the Exploration logs has been altered slightly, but it's the same overarching plot. I had always known the general gist of it - see spoilers as to what that is - down, and it's just been a long process of actually writing it all out: this did turn out to be one of my longest SCPs ever.

The most notable difference is that for a while, the final MTF to go into the cave was Omega-Seven, who would all die, with the final debriefing log held with a reincarnated Able. I decided that a MTF actually surviving for once would be stronger, however, and keep better with my personal views on the ideal theme of the Foundation (fundamentally, these are stories of the victory of the mundane over the paranormal).
