The original entrance to E-408 was discovered in the home of ███████ Pocan, an Istanbul businessman residing in one of the rural parts of the city. While searching his basement for one of his client's mortages, he accidentally uncovered a wooden door that had been hidden behind a stack of crates.

Pocan and a local police officer conducted a brief exploration of E-408, and discovered its anomalous properties. Embedded personnel within the General Directorate of Security were alerted to this doorway. The Foundation later purchased the property and gave doses of amnestics to Mr. Pocan and the associated police officer.

Records of the property containing SCP-XXXX-1 went back to the early 18th century, where it was originally a state-owned storage facility of little note. It was eventually demolished and sold to several owners over the next two centuries. The "basement" of the property was built by Mr. Pocan's grandfather. Interviews with Mr. Pocan revealed that, when his grandfather began digging below the home for the basement, they had discovered the chamber and simply converted it into a storage.


Mr. Pocan's original incursion through SCP-XXXX-1, as well as those of exploration squadrons, asserted the following:

  • The area directly accessible through SCP-XXXX-1 is the ruins of a medieval city.
  • This area is uninhabited.
  • There is a cliff near this area. The surface below is forested.
