Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Uncontained
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the limited supply of vaccinations against SCP-XXXX, all those developed thus far are to be put toward providing herd immunity at infected farms. SCP-XXXX-A instances are to be immediately separated from the rest of the flock and incinerated. On request, instances of SCP-XXXX-A are to be sent to Site-92 for further study.
Blues clubs throughout Bay County, Michigan should be monitored in the event an instance of SCP-XXXX-A is inspired to play trumpet. The instance is to be contained, social media posts suppressed, and misinformation circulated.
As of 11/12/2023, Foundation research into SCP-XXXX is to focus on eradication of VTZ(A)0041 and discovering a non-invasive surgery for infected humans. Due to Incident.XXXX.1, consumption of SCP-XXXX-A is forbidden.
Description: SCP-XXXX (VTZ(A)004) is a water born virus affecting Gallus gallus (Domesticated Junglefowl, commonly known as chicken). SCP-XXXX-A are Gallus gallus affected by SCP-XXXX. The virus is non-communicable. The only known means of becoming an SCP-XXXX-A instance is through consumption of SCP-XXXX infected water.
The incubation period of SCP-XXXX remains unknown, however, initial symptoms including lethargy, extension of limbs and honking, generally begin to occur three days after initial infection. Forty-eight hours after this the subjects' beaks soften. Twenty-four hours later, the subjects develop human speech. At this stage, the farmer tending to SCP-XXXX-A instances are to incinerate them.
If an instance is kept alive, further anomalous effects take place after a week of noticeable symptoms. An instance of SCP-XXXX-A will develop knowledge of music theory and develop an interest in jazz and blues. It is not known when the next stage in SCP-XXXX's effects occurs, but the result is an instance of SCP-XXXX-A performing at a Blues or Jazz club.
Any human consuming an instance of SCP-XXXX-A has a 42% chance of catching a variant of SCP-XXXX. In humans, an avian beak will replace the subjects' lips over the course of eight hours. After transformation is complete, the subject still maintains linguistic verbal abilities.
Discovery:
Sick chickens at a farm in Bay County started to speak, which caused concern for the farmers. Posts made on their personal social media accounts triggered several keywords by Foundation webcrawlers. This alerted to the possibility of anomalous activity and agents were sent to investigate. During this investigation, a TikTok went viral of a chicken playing trumpet at a jazz club. TikTok users have discredited the video as AI generated. In lieu of this the Foundation deemed it unnecessary to spread any further misinformation.
Below is a transcript of the TikTok.
[Recording starts in the middle of a set. A chicken is behind the band stand next to a trumpet. All instruments but percussion and bass stop playing. The chicken climbs to the top of the podium and grabs the trumpet with its elongated leg. It brings the trumpet up to its soft beak and starts improvising acid jazz over the drums and bass.]
[The audience is cheering and dancing in a state of euphoric mania.]
Camera-person: Wooo!! Go chicken, go chicken! (points at the trumpeter)
Person 2: There is no way that's an actual chicken.
[The solo reaches a heightened state as the performer repeats the same, two octave riff without pause.]
Camera-person: Listen to those chops!
Person 2: How is a chicken doing that?
[The riff continues for another ten seconds without pause for breath. There are audience members chanting "coffee, cheetos, chicken" while moshing in front of the stage. The trumpet screams as the chicken climbs up further in octave. A patron near the bathrooms cheers and then punches the wall for reasons unclear. He goes back to cheering.]
[The chicken finishes climbing in scale, and holds a high pitched squeal. It increases in volume as do the lights in the club. The squeal expertly stops and the audience becomes erratic as the lights go out in the club.]
Addendum XXXX.1:
Incident XXXX.1:
Due to a computer error with Site-92's shipping orders, a Foundation delivery vehicle transporting instances of SCP-XXXX-A was sent to deliver to the kitchen instead of the research wing.
Below is an image of Site-92's menu for the week.

Roughly 25% of Site-92 staff succumbed to SCP-XXXX. The kitchen staff were reprimanded, the delivery driver was put on a one month paid leave, and the Site's IT department began designing a fail safe for future delivery and shipping orders.
Surveillance Logs:
researcher unable to wear glasses because beak, security guard unable to put on helmet because beak, janitor unable to wear mask because beak, researcher having issues eating because beak, psychologist has issues brushing… teeth because beak
this section should be characterizing the site. showing how its effecting the site overall before we go into nitty gritty personal details of its effect
to do: site the character, researcher the character
Addendum XXXX.2:
Personnel living on site who are deemed non-essential are reassigned to Foundation controlled off site housing. In order to maintain the Veil, personnel effected by SCP-XXXX are to remain on site until the anomaly has been neutralized. Effected personnel have been cleared to return to their duties as Foundation employees.

Subject: beak
Head of Research,
I'm trying to return to my lab but I can't correctly wear any of my PPEs because of the beak. Can we get PPEs retrofitted to accommodate for beaks? Or some sort of measure where I can still be present for my experiments?
I don't want to keep having Junior Researcher do all of my work.
Thanks,
Researcher Elijah Woodbridge
Site-92, Department of Research
writers note: HE WOULDVE MISSED THE HOLIDAYS WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND. elijah is still stuck in site 92, bring this up with his psych or something
Chat Logs (Plain Text):
Below are chat logs between Researcher Woodbridge and his girlfriend Diana Harrison in regards to the anomalous effect. Woodbridge has shared these logs to further Foundation research into the effects SCP-XXXX has on humans.

chat logs between diana and elijah during the holiday season
Due to a drastic decline in morale, Site-92 focused all of its research into creating a corrective surgery for the human variant of SCP-XXXX. After several failed trials, a breakthrough experimental procedure was developed. Surgeries will begin on 06/07/2024 with physically healthy volunteers.
Full recovery from surgery is estimated to take eight months. Subjects are observed to suffer from dry, and chapped lips, itchiness and redness around the surgical stitches, and decreased verbal linguistic abilities during the recovery period.
Addendum XXXX.3:
Incident XXXX.2:
Researcher Elijah Woodbridge was among the first group of personnel to be given the procedure. On 02/14/2025, A week before expected full recovery, he visited his partner off site. During intercourse, his beak grew back in full. Woodbridge contacted Foundation EMTs immediately after the incident. Diana Lastname's planned [] surgery was performed earlier than expected, and she fully recovered. A second surgery was performed on Woodbridge. His beak grew back within the week. Woodbridge is to live on-site indefinitely until a permanent surgery is discovered. Woodbridge and Diana have placed a request for Diana to live with him on-site. The request is currently pending.
