This year's NYC Pride theme is "For All Of Us," which is both funny since this article started two years ago with a pitch from me to Queerious, who was absolutely instrumental in getting this going, and because this article fits the theme. It's come a long way, we've come a long way, and there are still many difficult battles for us ahead, but we will win.
This article is a letter of affection to my awesome friend kinchtheknifeblade, without whom I would have never started writing for this site. They are endlessly cool, similarly wise, and deeply talented. Thank you for creating all these wonderful characters and letting me write them, much more for giving me advice on how to do that.
This article is also a furious hate letter to the fact that queer people everywhere constantly feel as if we have to be the model minority, that we have to be one of the good ones, that we have to sacrifice a part of ourselves in order to have a chance at making it on this awful planet, that we have to constantly be "strong". Its ridiculous.
