I've never understood why villains always go after their enemy's family. They get no long-term benefits from doing so— all they receive is a swift death from a raging superhero.
That's why I help both sides out by running the Household Sentinal Network, all inside of the confines of my brain. It's quite simple, actually! I receive an assignment from the Collective, and then these small rice grain-sized objects are sent straight to the family, where they're advised to place them all around their living space. They also tend to get one implanted under their skin in case of an attack while they're out an about doing normal people things.
Usually nothing happens, because most villans are smart enough to stay away from those who are related to superheroes.
Very rarely, though, you get some moron who decides to launch an attack. That's where I come in.
Using some unexplainable magic mumbo-jumbo, those little grains are able to detect when someone is in danger, and then they begin to assimilate energy inside of them, which is about the point where I'm given control.
I'm able to see from the perspective of the grain, and I have one option: Shoot.
A small beam of energy shoots forward and whistles around, piercing through the brains of any 'hazardous entity' until the family member is completely safe and sound. Worst thing that happens is a bit of sting if the grain had been implanted inside of them.
And so the Household Sentinel Network stays strong and effective, keeping them safe!
I kinda wish we could recruit some more superheroes, though. These grains are… uh… actually my fingernails, and some of my friends keep getting creeped out by the jar I keep 'em in. I would give them some, but for some reason the SCPH doesn't want me handing them out like candy. Maybe they just don't want me to be overwhelmed…
