Sun Witch Beat Sheet
Tale 1: Watching All these Dreams Go Up in Smoke
- Scene 1:
- Cold Open, introduction to enforcement arm of main antagonist, Sigma-12. Hard action establishment.
- Scene 2:
- Introduction to Ericc (Circe), establish cryptic intent of the viewpoint character, alarming nature of things that they are becoming aware of. Discovery through electronic records of the central protagonist characters. Introduction of time-manipulation and Ericc's intent.
- Scene 3&4&5:
- Scene 3&4: Introduction of protagonist #1: Melina (Medea), her core obstacles (emotional and historical) of her changing magic (manipulation through her mother in vagueries), her distress over this and what happened to her and Cardea (Carissa) and her sleep deprivation induced anger/irriation with the Foundation limiting their operational capacity such that they cannot function.
- Scene 5:
- Ericc's distressed realization of what he may have to put Melina through to achieve his goals. Reveal of outside interference in Melina's magic, and set-up for Medea's SCP (Ericc confronting and ripping the strings from Melina's mother out of her back, and ripping Ilya out of the temporal bubble, returning the ancient city of Aea to baseline reality beneath the modern city of Kutaisi).
- Scene 6:
- Introduce Cardea and Melina's relationship in more proper terms from Melina's POV, how Cardea attempts to cheer her up, how they communicate/confront an issue between them. Still unsure if I should introduce Cardea's viewpoint more thoroughly here or not? Feel like we lose something by not doing so. Maybe excise and use for elsewhere.
- Scene 7:
- Ericc returning to his body, encounter and warning from his Cosmic Patron, wrestling with what he needs to do and setting the plan in motion.
- Scene 8:
- Cardea's POV of her relationship with Medea, establishing them in a much softer, happier environment with hopes and looking ahead, only to be snatched away by the snatch and grab shown at the start of the tale.
Tale 2: You Won't Drown With Your Lover
- Scene 1:
- Establish Cardea and Temis as both characters, and their internality. Demonstrate the way Sigma-12 treats Cardea due to her physicality, power, and intensity (IE, strapping her down and muzzling her), how she reacts to this and environmental stimuli and the means they go to to control anomalies (threatening to kill Melina) and how this effects Cardea.
- Scene 2:
- Introduction of antagonist, Eulades Eurylochus, her internality, history and motivations. Need for exact order, categorization, neat segmentation of reality and conditions, hatred of anomalies and especially reality benders.
- Scene 3:
- Introduction to Site-198. Melina's reaction and attempt to look for a way out of the current situation, proper realization that there is no way out, fear and growing terror as she's forced into an ontokinetic nullification field. Fear, despair, panic and then major feverish disruption of her nature and abuse at the hands of Site Security. How powerless she is, and how much it psychologically unwinds her when they separate her and Cardea.
- Scene 4:
- Establish Ericc's dynamic/relationship with Eulades, demonstrate how he views her, his concern about Melina and Cardea's treatment, and the increasing disgust/distress he feels about how they are being treated.
Tale 3:These Prayers Ain't Working Anymore
- Scene 1:
- Melina Psychological breakdown as they 'sweat' her in a high activity Scranton Reality Field. Panic, desperation, grief over what she thinks is about to be their deaths. Honed in on feelings of oppression, powerlessness, and at the mercy of their captors. Hoping they'll be rescued, found, bargaining with herself for it.
- Deepening of the abuse of reality benders, parallels and mental comparisons between Eulades and Melina's mother. Three dimensional chess, manipulation, and sparring between Eulades and Melina to figure out what the other wants, demonstration of how Eulades treats anomalies directly. How Melina confronts her fear. Ultimately the coercion and agreement to serve as a guide and bulwhark for Eulades's plan to penetrate 8711, with the caveat that she must display her capabilities first.
- Scene 2:
- Demonstration of Melina's capability, further abuse of reality benders/anomalies by making her target Cardea without her knowing as a guinea pig to test the latter's healing abilities. Tries to stay in control but manipulation, abuse, Melina's loss of control through her mother's manipulation of her magic, and her impotent rage when she realizes Cardea is on the other end of her magic.
Tale 4: No Gods Here
- Scene 1:
- Cardea waking up after being blasted repeatedly by Melina's magic. Her mental and physical struggle with despair, how weak she feels, how powerless she is to protect herself, much less Melina in this situation. Questioning if she ever was able to do that, if she even knows who she is anymore. Temis pep-talk through this, resulting in overexerting too much.
- Scene 2:
- Cardea's introduction to Eulades Eurylochus, direct demonstration of her strength and physicality even with the scranton fields. Deepening reality bender abuse, further demonstrations of increasing cruelty against anomalies, including poisoning Cardea, coercing her to agree to help in her ultimate plan to destroy 8711.
- Scene 3:
- Cardea forced to demonstrate her marksman capabilities by shooting Melina. Melina's forced through thaumically interfacing neurological devices to use magic both against Cardea, and to manifest shields and effects. Cardea's psychological shattering as she relieves every time she's been forced to do harm or kill against her will or to survive. Can't shut it off and retreat to being numb as all her mental and emotional armor is stripped bare.
Tale 5: From the Great Heavens to the Great Earth
- Scene 1:
- Cardea and Melina reunited in a containment cell. Cardea emotionally devastated, Melina attempts to comfort her, and together they try to figure out what comes next. Figure the best approach is to play the long game, hope they won't be disposed of, and just try to survive. Neither really confident in this plan, and cling to the other, fading into an uneasy sleep.
- Scene 2&3:
- O5-01-03 anger at the failure of Site-212A's security personnel in failing to appropriately handle security protocols. Visible expression of this emotion.
- Scene 3:
- O5-01-03 informing "the twins" what has happened, and asking for their aid in tracking down Cardea and Melina and bringing them home, revealing what the rogue Foundation site is like to entice their cooperation. They agree.
- Scene 4:
- Departure of Site-198's expedition for SCP-8711. Buildup that something is coming, initial panic and communication storm/chaos as Site-198 comes under attack. Melina's realization that their rescue has come.
- Scene 5:
- The expedition runs out on deck of the corvette and watches the complete obliteration of Site-198 at the hands of two Beasts of Natures (the twins) when they discover what was being developed inside the Site (not explicitly shown) and how anomalies were being destroyed. Twins then realize what they are after is still within reach, fly towards the ship, prompting Ericc to force the sun to rise early. Hope snatched away.
Tale 6: Strings of Bleeding Crimson
- Scene 1:
- Melina waking up in 8711, realizing hope was snatched from the jaws of rescue, confronting the biggest failure of her past. Realizing she is not just anywhere within the pocket dimension, she's been placed in her room, her childhood room. She vows to do now what she failed to do in the past, and is interrupted by her Mother's voice.
- Scene 2:
- Her mother stands in the doorway, only she realizes its not her mother, but the main antagonist (Eulades Eurylochus) in the skin of a Hermeneutic event. She proceeds to try to kill her mother multiple times, each time either her mind or body or both are twisted out of her control, as she becomes her mother, or a servant of the Scarlet Monarch. Undertones of manipulation, emotional abuse, physical abuse/sexual abuse. She reveals that she is Medea of the Noble Daevic House of Colchis, accepting this reality, stripping off her false ontokinetic skin.
- Scene 3:
- Medea realizing her approach is wrong. She can't kill her mother, no matter how many times she tried. Starts to spiral into despair, not understanding what she's doing wrong, not able to think fully clearly. Questioning what is wrong with her. The creator of the Cosmic Garden (The Mither, Mother of the Astral Sea) seizes control of the Hermeneutic to speak with Medea, occupying Eulades in disguise as her mother, treating her like the mother she has wanted all these long years. A stabilizing moment as she's about to shatter under pressure. Then issues a warning to Circe about how recklessly she is treading.
- Scene 4:
- Meldea subjected to the full depths of her mother's covetous behavior once again, the realization that she has never been anything but a backup vessel, a phylactery for her mother to shape in her own image, a representation of her legacy and not an independent person with their own thoughts and feelings. Ilya takes Medea's body for her own, indulging in the emotionally/mentally/physically abusive enjoyment to show her the truth, that she made a pact with the Scarlet Monarch to ensure that her legacy would propagate on in Medea by feeding her Ilya's blood. Shattering realization that Ilya wants to be killed at Medea's hands, wants her to steal Ilya's fleece, that the only way to bring her down is to find another way to free her people, revolution, or some other method. Killing is not the way for her to move forward. End with Medea asking Circe to help her find a way to stop her Mother.
Tale 7: Hello From the Other Side
- Scene 1:
- Deconstruction of Cardea, psychologically fragmenting and throwing off, digging to the core roots of who she is, and finding she doesn't know who she is. Circe meets her in the Noospheric void of the Pocket dimension and offers to walk with her through the life, saying she can't find her name and identity for her, but she can walk with her. Evaluating Carissa to see if she's worth the mantle, and a worthy partner for Medea. Giving her a chance to do things differently.
- Scene 2:
- The first time Carissa ever hunts, introduction to Black and the Hunter who kept her as a slave. Carissa's refusal to kill, getting hit for it, and Black standing up for her. Protecting Black by shooting the deer, and first demonstrating her power. Conversation with Circe about recent events, what she did. Kills the deer, grieves for it, and the hunter forces her to skin and preserve the meat. Where she earns her name. Where she and Black grieve together for what she has done.
- Scene 3:
- Carissa resolves to grow stronger, Physical workouts, training with the bow, teaching herself math and then Black as well. Changes how she does things, defends Black from his abuse, starts beating him up when he comes at her drunk. Kills two centaurs in the woods who wanted to do horrible things to her, still trembles and weeps. Finds a different way to cope other than being numb. Necklace to remember each and everything she has killed.
- Scene 4:
- Discussion with Circe about how she'd like to have been born Daevae, and Circe's disagreement. Slowly starting to fall in love with Black. Training with the Village soldier so she can protect Black from the bullies in the village. Her rage and anger at Black getting beaten up. Black's death at their hands, the first time she kills another human person. Persons. Her grief and anger at Black being gone, still too slow to save her even with a supposed second chance. The first time Artemis appears before her, and offers her a chance at a name, to be her champion. Artemis memorializing Black as a tall and powerful weeping fig tree, whose fruits she so very much loved, in a place they used to come and sit and watch the world tick by.
- Scene 5:
- Carissa reaching late-teens, no longer being challenged by the Hunter for whom she's a slave. The reveal that he arranged for Black's death, set Carissa up to kill the village boys, and then intended to take her in and sell her for her crime of murder. Freeing herself by killing him, finally.
- Scene 6:
- Arrival at Calydon, treatment at the hands of the hunters who think a woman should not be there. Meeting with Artemis as a 'adult' for the first time. The chessmatch between them, knowing that Carissa is here to make her name, but is also a tool for Artemis to achieve her own goals. Choice is hers to make, her own fate, no longer a slave.
- Scene 7:
- The Hunt for the Boar, Carissa moving before anyone else can. Battling the beast in it's marshy forest, wearing it down and killing it. The other hunters attempting to steal the credit from her, holding her down, taking the hide for themselves. Meleanger killing his uncles, taking the hide and returning it to Carissa, and then dropping dead as his mother throws the lethal brand into the fire. The unraveling of the hunt party, as they turn against one another. Carissa and Artemis slipping away into the wilderness, Artemis telling Carissa where next fate may await her. She walks off with the hide to find herself a boat, certain in who she is, and with the reveal of her true name and title.
