Teddy Roosevelt

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: dadada we can do this later

Description: As of the time of writing, SCP-XXXX is a humanoid figure composed entirely of sponge capable of locomotion and speech. The entity resembles and claims to be Theodore Roosevelt Jr, the 26th president of the United States. SCP-XXXX has scored 210 and below on Calvin Reincarnation Tests1, and, when inserted into appropriate simulations, has taken actions characteristic of Roosevelt.

If SCP-XXXX "dies", secondary anomalous properties will activate. For SCP-XXXX, death will occur if either 50% or more of its body mass is removed or if an area corresponding to one of its vital organs is severely damaged. After death, SCP-XXXX will decompose into its essential elements and demanifest from reality. Shortly afterwards, another instance of SCP-XXXX will appear approximately where the previous instance died. However, this instance will be composed primarily of another material.

This material varies from metals like pure iron to organic materials like oak tree leaves. Despite this, SCP-XXXX is always capable of locomotion, speech, consumption of food and water, and sapience.

Origins: Unknown. Accounts from "The Administrator"2 imply that SCP-XXXX was the historical instance of Theodore Roosevelt. One of "The Administrator"'s journals goes as far to describe an instance where they met with Roosevelt. In this account, Roosevelt decapitated himself, before vanishing "in a flash of steam" and reappearing shortly thereafter, with new skin made of steel. However, the truthfulness of this account has been called into question, and consistent accounts of Roosevelt sightings have dated back to 1935(1) at a minimum.

SCP-XXXX was known to the Foundation since 1951(2); however, it could not be secured until the Foundation acquired initial public funding and authorization in 1963(2). At the time, SCP-XXXX was living in Galena, Maryland under a pseudonym. During a bar fight, SCP-XXXX was attacked with a pump action shotgun, revealing it to be composed entirely of bronze. It willingly went into Foundation custody shortly thereafter, citing a lack of ability to keep itself concealed.

Addendum: Instance Log

The following table is an abridged log of known SCP-XXXX instances. The exact details of SCP-XXXX instances prior to 1935(1) are unclear due to a lack of documentation regarding the anomaly at that point.

Instance Number Material Notes Cause of Death
(Speculative) Unknown, possibly organic Historical instance of Roosevelt prior to 1912(1). Possibly multiple instances. Shot by John Flammang Schrank on 14/10/1912(1). Managed to survive for long enough to complete his speech before receiving medical attention. Expired within hospital before remanifesting shortly thereafter. No in-depth logs of this incident; possible destroyed.
(Speculative) Unknown Historical instance of Roosevelt prior to 1919(1). Died in his sleep due to unknown medical complications. It is unknown how he vanished from public record at this point; theories suggest involvement from an undiscovered Group of Interest.
#1 Paper Seen multiple times in Harlem, Manhatten. Directly claimed to be Roosevelt when asked. This instance was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1935(1) and eventually was cornered in a speak-easy. However, SCP-XXXX set itself on fire, destroying itself. It remanifested after the agents had left.
#2 Iron Continued activity in Harlem before moving to Washington DC in 1942(1) and attempting to run for office. During a chase involving several FBI agents, SCP-XXXX fell into the Anacostia River and began to rust, before demanifesting shortly thereafter.
#3 Pine Wood Multiple sightings reported in the Maryland area. Believed to have lived by hunting in the Potomac Garret State Forest between 1943(1) and 1949(2). Fate unknown. Next instance of SCP-XXXX was constructed from a different material.
#4 Bronze Began living under an alias in Galena, Maryland. During a bar fight in 1963(2) it was revealed to be made of bronze. SCP-XXXX then entered Foundation custody. Was destroyed in a containment breach of the entity now known as SCP-882.
#5 Plastic Requested to be kept in an air conditioned chamber (approved). Moved to Site-17 in 1980(2). During the 1985(2) containment breach of SCP-199 and SCP-████, it became necessary to detonate the on-site high-impact explosive. SCP-XXXX was destroyed in this explosion, and was found in the resulting crater three weeks later.
