1. Neo-Sarkics and SAPPHIRE Lodge officers ally because their actions align in a perverse way: SAPPHIRE want to delete religious belief, whereas Neo-Sarkics want to consume the object of that belief, God itself.
2. Neo-Sarkics attack ex-Prometheus sites. Major horror movie/body horror vibes. The purpose is to recruit/coerce/subvert technicians who can maintain the Saganhead and create a supply line, not only for the experimental tech involved in Saganhead, but for SAPPHIRE's war. There is a major hubris here, because as the fall of Prometheus meant a hundred different groups inheriting their tech, what this achieves is pissing off a ton of GOIs.
3. Having perverted Saganhead's mind, the next step is creating a Godhead and protecting 4519 physically. Hence, they retrofit Radiant Eyes (the sun-weapon) into Saganhead. The thematic connection is obvious: Reason/"Enlightenment" is transmitted through senses. In the process, they create the opposite — more hubris here: Saganhead becomes incomprehensible to those it attacks. Because what they're really doing isn't *creating* reason, but *negating* existing belief. And now Saganhead has become as difficult to fathom as the power of the Sun. SAPPHIRE rolls with this and goes a step further: Using the weapon to burn out the *will* of the adherents, which is even more fundamental. Becomes important in 5.
4. Since ultimately they're trying to build, not just a Godhead, but a God, then obviously Saganhead needs a body. Eventually, as stated in the brainstorming, they want the Gate Guardian's body. However, in the meantime, through Sarkic fleshcrafting and the incorporation of other GOI-flavoured techniques — CotSH blood magic, beryllium-bronze Mekhanite skeleton, etc. — they make body prototypes, one of which can eventually take on Gate Guardian.
5. If sun-weapon Saganhead burns the will, this is exactly the key to SAPPHIRE's undoing. In the end, when SAGAN GOD destroys itself, SAPPHIRE agents get *their* wills burned out. The reason Pattern Screamers enter their heads is simple: They have been worshipping SAGAN GOD this entire time, and with the Godhead destroyed, Pattern Screamers are transmitted through Him (the void of belief and will; the source of negative enlightenment) into the medium of that worship: SAPPHIRE.
