Red Brook Mine, upper interior tunnel.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX instances of deceased individuals are to marked on staff maps of the Red Brook Mine via their proximity to consistent landmark features and structures.1 These locations are referred to as "anchor points."
Living SCP-XXXX instances are to be medically monitored. In the event that effects fully fade, and the individual is evaluated to be non-anomalous, status as an SCP-XXXX designation will be revoked. If effects persist, or changes are permanent, it will remain. Members of Site-898 staff who retain an SCP-XXXX designation should receive continuous medical aid to ensure health, and are allowed to return to normal Foundation duty if they choose.2
Description: SCP-XXXX is the blanket designation given to any baseline human that has been affected, altered or killed by an SCP-8987 activation event. These designations range from temporary to permanent, depending on the duration or severity of the effects.
Similar to the unpredictable nature of SCP-8987 activation events, SCP-XXXX instances do not show much consistency in effects outside of general environmental influence from the mine itself. Statistically, members of MTF Gamma-89 ("Rock and a Hard Place") and Site security are most likely to temporarily become SCP-XXXX instances due to their consistent interaction with SCP-8987 activation events.
Truncated Catalogue of Notable Instances: For additional instances, medical documentation, or interviews relating to those below, please contact Site-898 medical to request the appropriate clearance.
Instance: SCP-XXXX-A
Name: Glenn Dennis
Date of Effect: 16/10/1965
Description: The mostly preserved carcass of 35 year old miner Glenn Dennis. Remains are from the original Summit Anthracite operation within the Red Brook Mine. SCP-XXXX-A is intangible, and suspended limp within the primary shaft approximately 50 meters down.3
Every five months, SCP-XXXX-A will be spotted standing on the lift platform when it is called to the top level of the mine. The subject will seemingly return to "life," only to look down and promptly vanish through the lift's platform. Afterwards, it will return to its anchor point.
Designation Status: Permanent (Deceased).
Instance: SCP-XXXX-B
Name: Unknown
Date of Effect: Unknown, likely 1965-1966.
Description: Shards of human bone embedded within a tunnel wall. SCP-XXXX-B's anchor point is termination of the fifth sublevel's primary minecart rail. Remains are from the original Summit Anthracite operation within the Red Brook Mine. Whether not these remains are comprised of more than one individual is unclear, attempts at removal for analysis purposes has resulted in failure.
Proximity to the remains causes an intense feeling of being watched, and the tunnel has an overwhelming smell of gunpowder.
Designation Status: Permanent (Deceased).
Instance: SCP-XXXX-E
Name: Agent Derrick Joyce
Date of Effect: 22/08/1966
Description: During the expedition to discover SCP-8987, drilling efforts by staff triggered an activation event. Agent Derrick Joyce would be spatially displaced downwards by 0.3 meters, resulting in his feet painlessly phasing through any matter beneath them. Despite this, he remained capable of baseline locomotion, albeit with noticeably clumsiness due to an apparent lack of sensation.
These effects would fade roughly two weeks after infliction.
Designation Status: Temporary, revoked as of 01/09/1967.
Instance: SCP-XXXX-F
Name: Agent Glenn Bird
Date of Effect: 22/08/1966
Description: During the expedition to discover SCP-8987, drilling efforts by staff triggered an activation event. Amidst the event Agent Glenn Bird experienced a mental inversion of the concepts of "up" and "down."
This effect faded one day later.
Designation Status: Temporary, revoked as of 23/08/1966.
Instance: SCP-XXXX-K
Name: Dr. Claire Ward
Date of Effect: 12/09/1967
Description: While SCP-8987's containment chamber was being created, the construction efforts would trigger a small scale activation event. During the event, Dr. Claire Ward's teeth were spontaneously converted to quartz at an atomic level.
Due to the fact that quartz's hardness on the Moh's scale is higher than that of enamel, this is considered non-obtrusive in her day to day life.
Designation Status: Permanent, returned to duty.

On January 3rd, 1968, Security and Containment Chief Zoe Miranda became SCP-XXXX-N.
During routine maintenance and examination of SCP-8987's containment chamber on January 3rd, 1968, one of the Scranton Reality Anchors experienced a catastrophic malfunction. The resulting blast was significant enough to activate SCP-8987 and trigger its anomalous effects.
During the activation event, Security and Containment Chief Zoe Miranda's PAPR4 and related protective equipment fused to her body at an atomic level. Following her collapse after the initial fusion, she was taken to Site-898's medical facility.

first character convo
wah
- start with a medical breakdown of what happens, give it its own lil file
- uuuhh
- theme of workplace injury? discussion of being hurt on the job and Zoe worrying this will cost her her position
- “accidents happen” -> this has happened to other people on site, but they’ve been able to recover (zoe remarks to Gibbs that its Different here, that Eden is so “soft” on people who end up wounded or anomalously changed. shes seen people treated harshly and thrown to the dirt. Gibbs remarks that theyre family, out here in these woods)(top ten convos that will feel a certain Way in retrospect lol)
- acknowledgment that this fucking sucks! shes scared and it hurts
- needs to discover her new limits and re-learn how to take care of herself
- this is about recovery babeyyyyyyy
Instance: SCP-XXXX-N
Name: Chief Zoe Miranda
Date of Effect: 03/01/1968
Description: An accident during routine maintenance of SCP-8987's chamber would result in a small scale detonation and activation event. Chief Zoe Miranda's PAPR equipment would undergo biological fusion with her body. Due to the extent of the integration, they could not be surgically removed without posing significant threat to Chief Miranda's life.
After approximately [] months of medical aid, Chief Miranda's condition — and how to manage it — has become more understood by both herself and staff. She has since been released from hospice care.
Designation Status: Permanent, returned to duty.
