So
The planet where this robot is from
Is constantly at war with itself
So a bunch of scientist get together to make a massive peacekeeping robot
To stop the wars
But the AI they made for the robot
Developed emotions
And it didn't want to hurt anyone to stop the wars
They launched it into space to keep it from stopping them from stopping the wars
and then it ended up on earth
So this thing lands on Earth in like the 1600s
And stays dormant until the construction of trans-Siberian railway disturbs it
In the early 1900s
So we could have it change history somewhere in there
maybe during one of the world wars
Or the cold war

this giant robot does not want to fight in this war
maybe the soviets try to convince it to fight since a giant robot would be a useful asset
they like
trap it
the robot is trying not to hurt them tho maybe it does try to escape
I ponder if it resembles zmey gorynych since that ties into slavic folklore
/also it would be really fun drawing a badass dragonic robot
its backstory may be a secret since this way it's like "hmm did this giant robot inspire the myth? maybe it diiid"

And try to set it loose on the Japanese
But it escapes
It yotes on out of there
And then hides in the Japanese mountains
I don't know where to go from here
Maybe the Foundation finds him when the US starts helping Japan after the war
