SCP-@ in containment.

Item #: SCP-@

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:SCP-@ is to be stored in a standard secure storage locker, located in the Secure Storage Wing of Site-12. Access to the storage locker is restricted to Level-3 personnel and above. Any unauthorized access or use of SCP-@ will result in immediate quarantine of personnel and any resulting scp-@-1 instance.

SCP-@-2 instances are not to be allowed access to the storage locker. Any instances found to be attempting access to the locker are to be captured, restrained, and let back into the wild at least 35 meters from Site-12.

Description: SCP-@ is a funeral mask sculpted in the likeness of the Ancient Egyptian deity, Anubis. The mask is composed of a material visually similar to cartonnage1. Written across the inside of SCP-@ is the phrase “To give strength in Duat2“ in Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. There are no eye holes in the mask.

Several SCP-@-2 instances in the wild.

When worn on the head, SCP-@-1 transforms human subjects into SCP-@-1. SCP-@-1 is a bipedal canid, approximately 2.3 meters in height. The entity is entirely composed of the cartonnage-like material that SCP-@ consists of. SCP-@-1 does not require nourishment and does not produce waste. SCP-@-1 modifies the behavior of undomesticated members of the Canis3 genus within an approximately 35-meter radius, hereafter referred to as SCP-@-2 instances. SCP-@-2 instances will exhibit submissive behavior towards SCP-@-1, following most commands given to them by the entity, but will generally value their own well being above the entity's commands. This behavior ceases when the instance leaves the 35-meter radius. SCP-@-1 does not modify the behavior of domesticated canines, other fauna, or humans.

After removing the mask, the individual does not retain any memories of their time as SCP-@-1.

SCP-@ contains the consciousness of a sapient entity, believed to be an ancient Egyptian deity. The origins of the entity can be traced to ancient Egyptian literature, most commonly in association with the god Anubis4. SCP-@-1 is most commonly referred to as “The Golden Wolf”, and SCP-@ as “A Golden Mask”. It is currently unknown if “A Golden Mask” refers to there being more than one instance of SCP-@. The second recorded appearance of the entity was in 15th century Europe, as one of the main causes of the Valais Witch Trials5.

Reports of SCP-@ appeared occasionally across Germany, France, and Scandinavia until the rise of the British Empire in 1707. His Majesty's Foundation for the Containment of the Paranormal had several documents on SCP-@'s locations and actions after its founding, but these were lost during the Foundation civil war in 192█. SCP-@ appears to have inspired a significant number of local myths and legends of what is colloquially referred to as "werewolves." However, exposure to full moons, the flowering plant Aconitum6, and silver do not have any effect on the entity.

SCP-@ contains the consciousness of a currently unnamed entity, believed to be an ancient Egyptian deity. The entity is docile, and has remained cooperative since its initial containment in 10/3/2009. SCP-@-1 has refused any further communication since the incident on 10-23-2009. The origins of the entity can be traced to ancient Egyptian literature, most commonly in association with the god Wepawet7. SCP-@-1 is most commonly referred to as “The Golden Wolf”, and SCP-@ as “A Golden Mask”. It is currently unknown if “A Golden Mask” refers to there being more than one instance of SCP-@. The second recorded appearance of the entity was in 15th century Europe, as one of the main causes of the Valais Witch Trials8.

SCP-@ was recovered from the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C., USA on 10/3/2009, after Robert Mitchell10 put on the mask, transforming into SCP-@-1. Foundation agents embedded in the MPD recovered the entity, transporting it to Site-12 for containment.

Addendum @-A: On 10/24/2009 an unknown entity theorized to be "Set" materialized within the Secure Storage Wing. The entity then proceeded to access SCP-@'s storage locker through unknown means, removed the mask, and put it on. Instead of turning into SCP-@-1, the entity disappeared for several minutes before reappearing and putting the mask back into the storage locker. The entity then dematerialized. As a result of the incident, SCP-@-1 has stopped communicating with Foundation personnel.
