Notice: The original containment procedures of SCP-3XXX are unknown. Containment specialists have assessed the conditions of its pre-existing containment chamber and included its details below.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3XXX is contained in a 4,000 L Class-4 Lovell-Huron cryogenic suspension vat, cooled with liquid nitrogen. To facilitate the health of SCP-3XXX, sodium nitrite solutions and trehalose disaccharide have been included in the vat's fluid mixture, reducing the entity's desiccation. A temperature of −196 °C is to be maintained within the vat at all times.

The vat and SCP-3XXX are connected to a Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) system, which is installed into the entity's nerve net. A constant voltage of 8 V is supplied to the system by an electrical generator of unknown construction, resembling hypothetical designs for a miniaturized cold fusion reactor. If repairs need to made to the generator, blueprints for the cold fusion reactor design are to be used as a reference.

Potential candidates for oneironautic expeditions into 3XXX-β must meet have a Cognitive Resistance Values (CRV) of 12.4 or higher, a resistance against oneiric entities, and proficiency in lucid dreaming.

The entity will continue to be stored in the now-defunct Sub-Basement 12 of Site-82. The connection between SCP-3XXX and Oneiroi "Wasteland Collective" dreamscapes is considered a high-priority area of research by Research Team 3XXX.

Description: SCP-3XXX is soft-bodied cydippid¹ entity of unknown origin, which possesses sapience and oneironautic capabilities². The entity is 80 cm long and has a mass of 16 kg, possessing a body like that of non-anomalous cydippid organisms. Two retractable tentilla are used for maneuvering its surroundings.

The Deep Brain Stimulation system is a collection of anomalous telepathic and psionic materials assembled into electronic devices, built into the cryogenic suspension vat, which enables direct mind-to-mind connection between SCP-3XXX and an intended third-party observer (designated 3XXX-α). The system links to SCP-3XXX with a cable that embeds into its nerve net³. Despite the nerve net's differences from mammalian and avian nervous systems, nervous activity mirrors that found in REM sleep; the cryogenic suspension is presumably intended to maintain this state.

3XXX-α can link by attaching a set of 20 electrodes to their skull, then by being placed into a medically induced deep sleep. When this is achieved data on SCP-3XXX's dream state is transmitted into 3XXX-α and vice versa via an intermediate computer database⁴, causing 3XXX-α to enter the entity's dream in a state of high lucidity.

All dream states held by SCP-3XXX involve a dreamscape hereafter referred to as 3XXX-β. 3XXX-β takes the appearance of a large cityscape, built in the deep sea, which has been abandoned for an indeterminate period of time. Much of the buildings in the area are heavily damaged, though the cause of this damage is not known. The dream avatar of SCP-3XXX is a metallic humanoid entity known as "Nacelle," whose head is a Boeing 707 engine. While 3XXX-α is in 3XXX-β, Nacelle is seen to have an umbilical cord extend from its abdominal region and constrict around the neck of 3XXX-α's dream avatar. 3XXX-α will remain within 3XXX-β and will be able to communicate with SCP-3XXX until the medically induced deep sleep ends.

Notable similarities exist between 3XXX-β and a "Wasteland Collective" encountered by individuals that interact with the Oneiroi group of interest. The locales of this collective take the form of cities with little to no inhabitants, despite the necessity for Oneiroi collectives to have dreaming entities sustaining the existence of the dreamscapes. Although experiences of dreamscapes can be highly subjective, the layout and structure of each wasteland collective city are consistent across all encounters, additionally mirroring the appearance of 3XXX-β. Further investigation is needed to ascertain what connection exists.

Discovery: The means by which SCP-3XXX came into Foundation custody are unknown. Site-82's maintenance team discovered SCP-3XXX in the decommissioned Sub-Basement 12 during a routine site inspection sweep on 10/4/2021, its vat and electrical generator in a state of minor disrepair. Based on the construction of the anomaly's containment chamber, it is believed that SCP-3XXX was contained between 1999 and 2002, though both the DBS system and generator are more advanced than Foundation technology had been at the time.

The original documentation of SCP-3XXX was not found on any internal Foundation networks⁵, instead being found in a heavily corrupted state on a flash drive within Sub-Basement 12. Aside from limited details on containment procedures, no other legible information was recovered from the drive.

Sub-Basement 12 was decommissioned in 2013. As the last edit to the flash drive file was made in 2013, a potential connection between the decomissioning and a loss of knowledge on SCP-3XXX is considered likely. Whether this involved a form of antimemetic anomaly is not yet known.

Said cord leads to SCP-3XXX, in the form of Nacelle, who is curled into a fetal position and is floating farther down the tunnel.

D-2074 approaches SCP-3XXX. Speech becomes audible.

The tunnel ripples and both fall past a bright, blurry cityscape. D-2017 wakes up.

Afterword: The reasons for D-2017 prematurely awakening from the deep sleep are not understood. It is suspected that exposure to the foreign dreamscape interfered with typical REM sleep processes, preventing a full lucid dream experience. It is presumed that further exposure to 3XXX-β will decrease the interference, allowing for longer expeditions into the anomaly.

D-2074 manifests in a sac of translucent mesoglea tissue⁷, which pulsates around them. He claws at the sac until he is abruptly dragged out by the umbilical cord around his neck, exiting into an area above 3XXX-β's cityscape. SCP-3XXX tugs on the cord and drags him closer.

The city is still heavily blurred, though some structures are visible. Nearby skyscrapers, several extending even further above the city than the elevation D-2074 and SCP-3XXX are at, are composed of translucent membranes with bioluminescent photocytes lining their surfaces. The buildings are all connected to three triangular platforms at the bottom of the region, similar to those formed by deep sea lava flows and volcanism. In the central point where each triangle converges is a bright orange light.

Further inspection finds that many of the skyscrapers and sections of city are burning. Photocytes on these damaged buildings continuously flash randomized patterns of red and black.

SCP-3XXX: Spill truth of identity.

D-2074: I'm a nobody that some people are connecting into your dream. If you're worried 'bout me I can assure you I mean no—

SCP-3XXX moves closer, turning its neck into strands of iridescent material that let its head extend out and move around D-2074, inspecting him.

SCP-3XXX: Can you bring harm?

D-2074 does not respond.

SCP-3XXX: Why choose this debris?

D-2074: The Foundation needed someone to explore and I volunteered to get out of the crap I've been stuck in and have something… better to do with my time.

A cloud of building membrane debris passes around them. They shift location to the nearest skyscraper. Its surface has been heavily torn and bitten.

SCP-3XXX: It has been so long since the last hallucinator has stabbed in. I thank you.

SCP-3XXX head retracts to its body and its neck returns to normal. Both remain still for 10 seconds. D-2074 pulls at the umbilical cord.

D-2074: Could you, uh take this off? It's… not comfortable, to say the least.

SCP-3XXX: No.

D-2074: No?

SCP-3XXX: In its anger it is dangerous and I need to keep you unmelted—

D-2074: I've been in worse.

D-2074's cranial rocket activates and he flies toward the edges of the city, dragging SCP-3XXX behind them. The further they move from the city the more damaged it appears, with increasing numbers of skyscrapers seeming to be torn apart and the triangular platforms being fragmented. SCP-3XXX's jet engine turns on in an attempt to pull him back but fails to cause a significant change in speed.

Both shift to a position far from the city. The skyscrapers are barely visible, and the platforms below them are the top of a pillar of stacked lava rocks that extends indefinitely far down. The sea grows darker and ahead of D-2074 forms a faint orange glow. The glow becomes more radiant as he moves further out, forming the outlines of teeth-like structures within it.

SCP-3XXX: Please stop. Stop. I fear the afterlives.

The teeth expand and surround D-2074. He is stabbed with a piece of volcanic glass in the neck by SCP-3XXX immediately after, ripping his head off and forcing him to wake up.

A dark space surrounds D-2074 when they manifest. In front of them is a gray, amorphous mass, folding itself into various abstract forms. At intermittent points it forms orange wounds with the teeth seen in Dream Log 2 stabbing into it. The only physical sensations D-2074 experiences is an overall numbness. He is unable to view his own dream avatar.

D-2074 reaches his hand out and touches the mass. It rapidly unfolds into SCP-3XXX's dream avatar and the space dissipates, reforming into a section of 3XXX-β. Both of them are close to the ground of one of the triangular platforms. Skyscrapers and broken structures assembled from glass-like materials surround both individuals on all sides, and below and above them are tubes of volcanic glass. Pod-shaped metallic vehicles move along the outsides of the tubes, most being broken in some form.

D-2074: Are you… Are you okay?

SCP-3XXX: Never move to the border. You will be bitten like a stag line on a carved axis. Barely escaped.

D-2074: Alright. Sorry.

SCP-3XXX tugs on the umbilical cord.

SCP-3XXX: Always stay. Avoidance of anger.

D-2074: Yes, I get it. Sorry.

SCP-3XXX moves forwards, then turning around and tugging on the cord harder.

D-2074: I get it, sheesh!

SCP-3XXX nods. Both remain silent for 20 seconds as SCP-3XXX repeatedly shifts downwards to the city surface, shifting D-2074 along with them. The volcanic glass tubes grows denser as they go further down, though increasing numbers of them are torn apart.

D-2074: I take it that you weren't the only person to live here?

SCP-3XXX: Yes.

D-2074: …Did you build it?

SCP-3XXX: No. Spawners of spawners of spawners of spawners were the grand architects.

They pass the tubes. Below is the city surface, matching the same rock that composed the triangular platforms in Dream Log 2. Tentilla-like structures anchor the bases of the skyscrapers to the platforms, preventing them from floating off. Columns of shifting orange teeth slide along the ground, cutting its surface, and bite at the tentilla until they break and cause the skyscrapers to slowly drift.

D-2074: I take it that this place is old, then.

SCP-3XXX: It is.

D-2074: You uh, know what happened to it? At all? That'd be good to be aware of if I'm going to be here for a while.

SCP-3XXX: Knowing makes the biting dig deeper.

D-2074: I— I'm sorry for asking.

SCP-3XXX: It is fine. You did not know how—

One of the teeth columns abruptly lurches up and grows additional teeth to maneuver directly toward SCP-3XXX. D-2074 turns their hands into anti-aircraft eyes that stare at the teeth and generate explosive reactions within their internal structures. The column fragments.

SCP-3XXX: You can fight?

D-2074: Think I wouldn't know? Wife got that skill well ingrained in me before she'd let me do anything involving Oneiroi.

SCP-3XXX: You have a wife?

D-2074: Had.

SCP-3XXX: Oh.

SCP-3XXX shifts further along, finding a crater in an area lacking any teeth columns nearby. It moves to the epicenter, reaching at a translucent blue pod with a bioluminescent objects in its center. The space around them fills with the dessicated bodies of cydippids. A sudden glitch in the DBS system disconnects D-2074 from SCP-3XXX, bringing him into standard dreams until he is awoken by personnel.

The Wasteland Collective, also known as the Empty City and, informally, That Dead Jellyfish Place, is a collective unconscious sustained by an unknown individual with enigmatic origins. Who the capital is and who is the largest city are equally unknown, assuming they exist.

Every state within the Wasteland Collective is a deep sea city, all having been built in nearly the same style, a cross between tri-gelatinous subjective architecture and apocalyptically-damaged-by-an-undetermined-cause aesthetics. These cities rest on pillars of infinity. Aside from this, no other geological formations exist. As the concept of distance within the Wasteland Collective is malleable and chewy, no size measurements for its cities can exist. Traveling too far from a city results in fates unknown.

The Wasteland Collective is potentially unmoored. While an anchor likely exists, this has been debated [INFORMATION NOT REMEMBERED]

[INFORMATION NOT REMEMBERED] was first discovered by Emissary Skyward, though it was quickly left alone for practical reasons. The remarkable privileges only compound these issues, sometimes summoning their visions into the city itself. Continued investigation into the origins of SCP-3XXX has led to the uncovering of a set of electronic storage devices hidden within the walls and floor of Sub-Basement 12. All were painted with protective thaumaturgic runes and had the following message written on them:

The handwriting matches that of no known Foundation employee.

Data extracted from the devices is largely corrupted, likely the result of several virus programs that had been installed prior to discovery. The uncorrupted data all dates back prior to Sub-Basement 12's decommissioning.

Damage to the SCPS Wavebreaker.

Incident Report URA-9927/1

Summary: At 06:30, Mu-U99 is retrieved by SCPS Wavebreaker. Technicians are unable to determine the cause for Mu-U99's loss of contact with the vessel, though they are able to find human teeth within the ROV's engine. Anomalous causes are suspected.

Five minutes later, Unregistered Anomaly URA-9927 is successfully unloaded after issues with the containment vat's locks are fixed. The entity is then transported to an aquatic containment unit aboard the vessel.

At 06:44 the SCPS Wavebreaker collides against an unknown mass. No internal structures are damage, though the degree of external damage to the front hull is not known. Video feeds from the external cameras show a mass potentially as large as the vessel move by, though no details can be observed. Further collisions are detected against the rear hull at 06:50. Divers are not dispatched to inspect the suspected damages, due to the possibility of a hostile force being outside.

It is at this time that all personnel assigned to the containment of URA-9927 spontaneously enter REM sleep. Security camera footage from the containment sector of the SCPS Wavebreaker ceases at this point. Based on reports from the containment team, all of the personnel experience dreams that involve constructing barricades with the aid of a humanoid entity, whose is described as a jet engine.

Security attempts to contact the containment sector one minute after security cameras become disabled, receiving no response. Guards are sent to the sector and find all entrances locked; later investigations (refer to Aftermath) found each one to have been barricaded from the other side. The possibility of the containment team sleepwalking is under consideration.

Attempts to break into the sector are made at 6:50, though all guards involved enter REM sleep in the process. Further scratches and collisions against the hull occur, primarily at the front section. The object causing this begins to radiate orange light, illuminating continually shifting jawbone-like structures inside it seen by external camera. At 6:55, remaining security guards report the sounds of chewing within the engine room. Two guards enter and immediately shut the engine door behind them, with bright orange light reported to have been flashing behind it. Security camera footage of the engine room and footage from external cameras are lost.

All remaining personnel enter REM sleep simultaneously at 6:57. The last memories personnel had prior to this event was the sound of chewing and collisions against the SCPS Wavebreaker growing more intense. An emergency alert is broadcast at 6:58, despite the lack of subjects who could send it. A second message was broadcast at 6:59, consisting of a monotone female voice stating the following:

The SCPS Wavebreaker surfaces off the coast of Cannon Beach, Oregon, at 08:00. How the vessel arrived at the area without a submarine pilot is not understood.

Recently, debate has arisen over the hypothesis that the loss of knowledge on SCP-3XXX was the result of antimemetic anomaly. Researcher Hans Achterberg initially proposed that an antimemetic effect had been generated in 2013 from undetermined causes, which has gradually lessened in strength until portions of information could be perceived in 2021, possibly declining further over time. However, tests with mnestics have yielded no new discoveries in recovered documentation or Sub-Basement 12, suggestion that a non-antimemetic cause existed. The presence of Oneiroi West subnet posts regarding Wasteland Collectives further conflicts with the hypothesis, though the connection of SCP-3XXX to the Collectives and whether oneiric entities can be affected by antimemes are yet determined.
